Task 1.1 Produce a report on ‘improving the sustainability within a business environment’ by ‘analyzing the benefits of keeping the waste to a minimum.
Business sustainability is also known as corporate sustainability. It is the management and coordination of social, financial, and environmental demands and concerns to ensure responsible, ethical, and ongoing success. In a broader context, there are three pillars of sustainability which are social, economic, and environmental demands. They are sometimes referred to as the triple bottom lines in the corporate world. To maintain the sustainability of the business environment, maintaining minimal waste plays an important part. Waste is the additional unwanted objects obtained from a production process, which normally does not have any market value. Waste is normally produced more or less depending on the business. Waste reduction can bring success to a company by improving its image to its customers. The waste reduction process can help a business manufacturer save cash and raw materials. Via this, water waste can also be prevented.
Environmental and social: Recycling waste materials in business is a good way to help the society and environment in keeping pollution-free. It can be done by recycling the junks produced by factories and other industries. Minimizing waste can make a business environment hygienic and it can free up space. (Godin, 2017) Keeping a business environment free of waste can ensure less pollution in the following area, and less human power is consumed which is beneficial for a business. For critical devastation, minimize the other effects (including dust, traffic, and noise) on the streets and properties of the business organization.
Financial: Waste management can help a company financially. When waste is produced less, it helps the company to spend less money in the case of dealing with waste. Waste management is very expensive to work in. On the other hand, minimizing the waste amount straightly in the landfill can make great savings on the tax of landfills. As Godin (2017) notes, business organizations can be capable to gain more revenue from the recovered parts of the building and the materials which are recycled. In addition, it develops the employees’ productivity.
Moral and motivation of the employee: Connecting with the customers via email, social media as well as digital devices can be used as a method to minimize waste. It proves the commitment of the organizations. Moving on to electronic newsletters from hard copy documents lets the customers know about minimizing the paper used in the organization. These methods present the customers that organizations minimize the wastage (Brady, 2016).

Resource recovery is the process of taking useful discarded items for a specific next use. These discarded items are then processed to extract or recover materials and resources or convert them to energy in the form of useable heat, electricity, or fuel.
Recycling is the process of converting waste products into new products to prevent energy usage and consumption of fresh raw materials. Recycling is the third component of the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle waste hierarchy. The idea behind recycling is to reduce energy usage, reduce the volume of landfills, reduce air and water pollution, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and preserve natural resources for future use.
Nowadays the most common way of waste management in workplaces is recycling. It is because businesses look for ways to reduce waste disposal costs and operate in an environmentally sustainable.
Most workplaces choose to focus on “fiber “recycling as a first step because this makes up about 41% of the typical office waste stream. Recyclable fiber includes things such as office paper, copy paper, letterhead, computer paper, envelopes, catalogs, brochures, newspapers, and magazines. Many companies and institutions today are concerned about the confidentiality of their records (Gagni, 2017). Recycling paper is a way to ensure confidentiality because, by recycling, companies can provide certified document destruction through their shredding services or locked container.
Other items that can be included in the recycling program are computers, printers, toner cartridges, beverage containers, office equipment, furniture, fluorescent bulbs, construction and demolition debris, food and coffee ground composting, and more. The more organizations get into the recycling habit, the more fun it is to see how close the organization can get to “zero waste”.
Efficiency and durability support to reduce consumption of power, spending on spare parts and repair, thus saving money for the business organization. it is important to switch from paper to digital communication, such as email or texting when possible. This will rely on the organization’s policies on cloud storage as well as digital security (Williams, 2016). However, print is the final version of a document and edits the business writing on the word file. If the organization has created materials that need to be disposed of, it should be ensured by the company that they do not just throw it in the usual waste containers. These materials can be recycled or reused. Thus, it is significant to ensure that the organization implements the procedures where bricks, wood, rubble and other materials for the business site are recycled or reused………….
