According to Lindstrom (2016), the term “support” means the chances are provided to a business to face a challenge or difficulties and help the organization to achieve the ultimate objective of the business. As Avlonitis and Gounaris (1997) suggested the support is classified into many sections like project support, financial support, information support, transactional support and logistics support.

Four key functional areas of ASDA
Customer services: customer service is one of the main services of ASDA. To achieve the ultimate goal and the objectives of the company, customers are the main focus point. As nowadays, the customer demands are getting high they want a prompt, polite and knowledgeable response from the company. Therefore the ASDA has customer service staff and departments to handle the customers as they demand. But it does not mean the others staff are free from their responsibilities. It means ASDA has a special team to handle the customer to support the other staff for their work.
Sales and marketing: sales and marketing is another important functional area. ASDA has an individual marketing department. Here all the strategies related to the product, promotional work and pricing are evolved. The marketing department is also responsible for the promotional activities which tell the customer what is available, such as by advertising, sales promotions and publicity campaigns. The marketing area also does the job of updating their website theirs.
Research and Development: ASDA has a separate research and development department because research and development is one of the significant functions. Here the staffs work for developing new products concepts and also do improvement in the existing product lines. Here the product design is also done. The department improves the products by doing research on the marketing and analyzing the customer’s feedback. According to ASDA (2018), the ASDA department of research and development works with both designing the product and improving the performance.
Human resource management: ASDA has a separate HR management department to deal with a huge amount of workers. This department works with the process of recruiting new employees and filling the vacancies of the company. As the process of recruitment is costly and time-consuming, giving jobs to the wrong person will do harm the individual as well as the company. There are other functions of the department too like developing attractive incentives and reward schemes, performance appraisal for the staff etc. In addition, this department contributes to staffing, managing, organization, and training and development of staff.
P2 Outline factors involved when working in an international support role
There are many factors that affect the supporting activities and supporting roles in global marketplaces. The key factors are discussed as follows:
To establish effective communication language barrier must be eliminated. Workers who come from a different country and works in international company place may be their fluency in the language is up to the mark. That hinders the communication with the employers and they can not express their needs or cannot give response properly to their associates. If their job is in the customer service sector, it may cause problems and difficulties to give the customers proper information and misleads them about the product. This communication gap can make the customer frustrated and lead them to other opponent brands where they can get the proper information.
Some members of the original workforce may resist the change if an organization is attempting to convert from a homogeneous workforce to an international workplace that is more culturally diverse. This may create problem in the company as the workers are not having a good relationship between them…………………
