Opportunities and Challenges of Engaging with Online Learning
The education which takes place over the internet is called online learning. Online learning has another name which is E-learning. According to Mathew (2018), ‘distance learning is an example of online learning which means education and learning take place across distance, not in the physical classroom. Online learning has both opportunities and challenges. Students can learn many things online also can face many problems. In the Covid-19 pandemic, this online learning has a great role for all students, teachers, and also institutions.
In this sudden outbreak of Covid-19, education institutions have been forced to fulfill technology improved learning using the online stage to continue education and the classes. That is why; online learning is very helpful and useful for students (Kate, 2020). They can learn many things from this online class. There are many opportunities in online classes. These are: students don’t have a fixed schedule. They can do their classes by their choices. Online classes have less cost than physical classes. Besides, in an online class, students can relax and concentrate on the class more than the physical class. It also increases students listening skills better (Tylor, 2020)
On the other hand, students have to face and suffer many challenges and problems. The online class is not that easy to learn, it is very complicated and a little bit tough (Mark, 2020). There are many challenges students are facing. These are: students face technical problems very often. It is a very common problem for many of the students. The next challenge is staying motivated. In an online class, students can easily get demotivated by the complications. The in-person interaction is very helpful and increases communication skills but in online classes, students cannot interact in-person so it can be very challenging to all the students (Jack, 2020).
I am working in a private college and in my research, I have come to know that, in this Covid-19 pandemic, students are engaging in online classes. I can suggest and recommend to the private college that how to effectively engaged the students during online classes. The first suggestion is that private colleges can open social sites for online classes. Students nowadays are very active on social sites. So that can be very helpful. The second suggestion would be private colleges can download many interesting apps and do online classes through this app. The third suggestion is the private college’s teachers can help and teach their students to do the online classes with entertainment and joy.
In last, it can be said that online classes are very complicated and challenging but online classes have also many advantages. In private college, students can save their time and do their side works. Students can be able to self-discipline because, in online classes, the teacher will not be able to constantly instruct them. Besides, in my research, I have suggested some ways for private colleges that how to successfully engaged students during online classes.
