Opportunities and Challenges of Engaging With Online Classes
Online classes have become a necessity in this pandemic-affected modern world. After the Covid-19 attack, the affected nations shut down all the local gatherings, offices and educational institutions. So works from home and online classes were the only options left for us to effectively survive (Smith, 2020). So the schools, colleges & universities started to take online classes through various apps and software like Zoom, Google Classroom etc.
Covid-19 has forced all the students in engaging with online classes. According to Jackson (2020), everything in this world has both positive and negative sides. Online classes are not free of them. Though there are many opportunities many students are also facing some difficulties going through these sudden changes. Let’s start with the opportunities. Online classes have opened a new world of opportunities for students. They don’t have to waste any time getting stuck in a traffic jam on their way to educational institutes. They can engage with various courses from a foreign respected university without even getting out of the home. They can put their complete concentration on studies. Online classes can even reduce costs like transportation costs. In physical classes, there is a specific time a teacher can teach students. But in online classes a student can reach out to his teacher anytime he wants. Online classes can give us freedom and flexibility. It’s our job to properly utilize that (Jackson, 2020).
Now let’s come to the challenges. To engage with online classes a student must have a smartphone or a personal computer. Though it’s easy for the developed countries it’s really hard for the developing or poor countries to provide every student with one of these (Friedman, 2020). Students show signs of physical problems because of sitting in a single spot for a long time and attending online classes. Like their eyesight starts to get weak, Because of less moving their body becomes weak etc. Not only can that online class put a great deal of pressure on the students mentally too. Because of isolation, they can suffer from depression. A student may have to miss an important class just because of internet issues. The Chance of cheating in an online exam is way higher than the physical exam. Many elderly teachers don’t know much about modern technologies. That’s also a problem in online classes (Feldman, 2020).
This is very important for all the students to engage during online classes. I can recommend and suggest to all private colleges that they should provide an interesting online environment to the students to engage them (Jackson, 2020). Besides, colleges and teachers should use interesting apps for the students. Lastly, all kinds of education-based notes can keep on social sites so that students can learn easily because nowadays students use social sites more (Friedman, 2020).
In short, the students don’t have any other options but to engage with online classes to pursue his career. Otherwise, their life will stop until the virus is cured. So the students should adapt to this modern technique of online classes and do what’s necessary to keep themselves healthy. It may run for a long time.
