Executive Summary
The assignment focuses on the leadership pattern of Bezos in Amazon. Normally; Bezos is a highly experienced leader. He basically gives importance to the vision and slightly to the mission of Amazon. Firstly; Amazon began its business activities through online books and website facility but after that Bezos has changed its business activities into eCommerce and online retailing stores. After this change; the growth of Amazon is growing rapidly because of the outstanding management and leadership techniques of Bezos. The success story of Bezos was not smooth but he faced barriers and challenges. He has taken several strategies to overcome his failings and bring success.
He focuses the short-run profit maximization as well as long-run profit maximization for developing the maximum growth of Amazon. After all; Bezos creates a strong relationship with the staff of Amazon that helps to motivate the employees. Most of the stakeholders of Amazon are happy with the leadership style of Amazon although some of the employees are not happy with him due to his bad characters like autocratic leadership, quick decision and implementation, and lack of performance appraisal. But; Bezos is thoroughly a good leader and manager who serve his best efforts to Amazon for present and future success. Ecommerce is experiencing rapid growth in the global market, where the online buyers are expected to increase from 1.66 billion in 2017 to 2.14 billion by 2021 and $4.8 trillion retail e-commerce sales is estimated for 2021 (Enfroy, 2019). Most importantly, eCommerce is embracing rapid growth in the US market with 86% increase in its retail market over the last five years and nabbing 9.1% of retail market share in 2017. Amazon is the largest online retailer not only in the US market but also in the global market (Brown, 2018), whereas it has gained 53% of all growth in e-commerce sales and 43% of all online retail sales in the US market (Fisher, 2018).
The key reason behind this tremendous success is the great leadership and talent management practices of Amazon’s founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, who practices a culture of innovation that motivates staff to create without fear of failure (Brown, 2018). This paper, first, defines whether Jeff Bezos is a leader or a manager or both in the Amazon business. Then, this paper defines the leadership qualities as well as leadership styles of Jeff Bezos that have promoted Amazon’s success. Finally, this paper analyzes how effective the leadership of Jeff Bezos in the current and future business of Amazon.

According to Burns (2017), Leadership is a technique of leading someone to achieve the preselected goals. According to (Mullins, 2015) leadership means to lead, guide, inspire, and motivate the people for managing and running the people in the right direction to attain the accurate goals at the right time. On the other hand, According to Holten and Brenner (2015), management is a technique of managing someone to achieve organizational goals. Management indicates the arrangement of factors of production to produce goods and services and manage the regular activities for achieving the mission and vision Mullins, 2015). Management is concerned with decision-making and distrusted the decision from the subordinates.

Leaders are connected with leading activities.
