Task 01

1.1   Compare different learning styles

Learning is one kind of procedure in which knowledge has made throughout the experience transformation. Learning styles are competent approaches to processing, acquiring manipulating and storing information based on different types of theories.

Kolb’s Experimental Learning Model, Honey, and Mumford’s Learning Style, and Bloom’s are different types of learning style models. In this assignment, the Kolb learning style model and Honey and Mumford learning style model are described.

Kolb’s Learning Styles:

David Kolb recommended four types of learning styles. These are described below:

  1. Diverging learning style:

The diverging learning style is focused on learning style. They do not do works immediately. They observe and watch first. They are skilled at doing This kind of person is good at creative works and jobs.

Assimilating learning style:

In order to follow the logical and conceptual knowledge, people should follow the assimilating learning style. They emphasized on the concept. They are skilled in scientific inventions and research.

Converging learning style:

Converging learning style is very different from others. Converging learning style concentrates on practical tasks more than abstract concepts or people. People following this learning style are skilled in solving practical problems.

Accommodating learning style:

David Kolb describes the accommodating learning style. It is an attractive style of learning. People following accommodating learning styles follow their practical reasoning more than inner feelings. They don’t worry about logical details somewhat they pursue perception. They cannot do any kind of analysis and research.

Honey and Mumford’s Style:

Honey and Mumford describe four types of learning styles. These are described below:

  1. Activists learning style:

The activists need to be engaged in challenging and new works, don’t like to impede, and reveal when a task has completed.

Reflectors learning style:

Reflectors like to gather primary and secondary data from different types of sources and reflectors are careful persons. Then, they analyze these data from different sources and come to conclusions. They listen to other people and take ideas from the people and then come forward to their individual opinion.

Theorist learning style:

The persons who like to make new theories and new observations and new experiment, they like to follow theorist learning styles. The logical derivation is the best method to solve the difficulties and it is thought by theorist learning style people.

Pragmatics learning style:

Pragmatics is capable to research new theories as well as ideas that do not exist in any real-world completions. They regard the difficulties and problems as different challenges that should be observed as well as been conquer.

Different learning styles are followed by different types of people in the real world. All the learning styles include its individual rationalization and it may be used in its own ground as well as gain better outcomes.

Similarities and differences between Kolb’s learning styles and Honey and Mumford’ learning styles

Activist, reflector, theorist, and pragmatist are frequently applied to present the four main learning steps in the model of Kolb. However, they are essentially from a model of learning types established by Honey and Mumford. This is dependent on the work of Kolb but there is a difference in the detail as well as should not be disordered. Honey and Mumford discuss their structure and that is:

“Our explanation on the steps in the cycle of learning created from David Kolb’s work. Kolb applies several opinions to define the steps of the cycle of learning as well as four styles of learning.” There is a great link between the Kolb learning styles and the Honey and Mumford learning styles………………….
