Chapter 1: Introduction
1.0 Introduction
Virtual Learning is very popular at this moment due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the case of the students of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David London Campus, virtual learning is an essential factor for developing student learning experience. This introduction chapter includes the background, problems, aims, objectives and questions of the research.
1.1 Research Background
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) was established on 18 November 2010 which brought together Trinity University College Carmarthen and University of Wales Lampeter (UWTSD, 2020). This university offers several degrees to the students and ensures a good environment campus. This university has also used the Virtual Learning Environment for the students to run the education system online especially in the pandemic situation. Therefore, this research is prepared to identify the potential effects of Virtual Learning Environment on the students learning because it has become the top learning strategy in this pandemic situation.
1.2 Research problems
At present, the world is facing the Covid-19 pandemic and the schools, colleges and universities are closed due to the pandemic. Gilavand (2019) stated that This situation affects the students negatively because they lost their study opportunity on the physical campus. For this reason, the virtual learning method is one of popular methods of learning by which students and teachers can meet each other without being physically presented (Gilavand, 2019). But, it is a very difficult task to ensure good quality virtual learning methods for the students because of several problems. However, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David has established a virtual learning environment for the students. They also have faced several barriers to ensure good quality virtual learning methods. Therefore, it is important to analyze the actual impact and feasibility of a virtual learning environment on the students learning in the case of this university.
1.3 Research aims and objectives
Aims
The aim of this research is to find the impact of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on student learning experience at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David London Campus.
Objectives
- To define the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and student learning experience
- To find the effects of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on student learning experience
- To evaluate the potentiality of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for University of Wales Trinity Saint David London Campus
- To suggest the University of Wales for developing a favorable Virtual Learning Environment to ensure student learning experience.
1.4 Research questions
- What are Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and student learning experience?
- What are the effects of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on student learning experience?
- What are the potentialities of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for the University of Wales Trinity Saint David London Campus?
- How the University of Wales can develop a Virtual Learning Environment to ensure student learning experience?

Chapter 2: Literature review
2.0 Introduction
The aim of this research is to find the impact of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on student learning experience at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David London Campus. This second chapter includes the concept of the virtual learning environment and student learning experience, factors of Virtual learning environment and impact of Virtual learning environment on the student learning experience.
2.1 Concept of Virtual learning environment and student learning experience
A virtual learning environment (VLE) can be defined as an online-based platform that assets students as well as professors to interact with each other and increase the learning experience (Waheed, 2018). VLE helps to improve the planning of lessons, entering digital learning materials, creating group discussions and chats, submitting homework to the teachers, creating live sessions, and grading and measuring the performance of the students. Waheed (2018) stated that Student learning experience depends on the learning quality that helps students to enhance the skills level. A virtual learning environment is a powerful way of improving the learning experience of the students. The student learning experience can be improved by the instant feedback and proper guidelines of the teachers.
2.2 Factors affecting Virtual learning environment
Elding (2018) stated that the learning environment has a significant impact on the learning outcomes of the students. The virtual learning environment is affected by several factors. Firstly, the virtual platform needs to from noise like physical classroom by which students can listen to the lectures of the teachers (Elding, 2018). The inappropriate and insufficient light also affected the virtual learning method. The internet facility and Smart device facility are also the most important factor for creating an effective virtual learning system (Elding, 2018)…………………………………………..
