2.1 Purpose of organizational communication
Organizational communication is very significant because this greatly influences three significant areas of an organization: employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and public perceptions (ER Services, 2018). Organizational communication is sending and receiving messages among interrelated individuals within a specific environment or setting to achieve individual and common goals (ER Services, 2018). Organizational communication is highly contextual and culturally dependent. Individuals in organizations transmit messages through written, face-to-face, and mediated channels. The purpose of this assignment is to recommend some measures to facilitate inter-departmental co-operation and to explain different barriers to communication and how to overcome these barriers (Vicky, 2018).
Our Recommended Resources:
2.2 Principles of organizational communication
There are several principles of effective organizational communication. These are pointed out below:
The principle of clarity: An information or message must be free from noise and distortion and must have a clear understanding and meaning. An unclear message is the most common barrier to making communication effective. It causes a delay in the communication process. So, the principle of clarity is very necessary for organizational communication (Francis, 2017)
Principles of Brevity: A communication or message must be just sufficient and necessary. Over-explanation and repetition demolish the actual meaning of the message. It lost its importance. So, the principle of brevity is also important in organizational communication.
The principle of Simplicity: the message must be provided by using familiar, simple words. Unclear and complex words must be avoided. Simple and clear words are understandable to help the receiver to respond to the message very quickly (Francis, 2017)
The principle of Timeliness: If organizational communications are made from time to time, communication becomes effective. If it is not made in time, it will create barriers to the communication
The principle of Integrity: Communication should consider the level of people, principles & objectives of an organization to create a network or chain. Such a network will provide a better field of internal and external communication……………………
