1.0  Introduction

British American Tobacco plc (BAT) is the largest tobacco manufacturing organization in the world that was established in 1902 and is headquartered located in London, England. They have also huge retail activities around globally. They conduct their business in almost 180 different countries and regions along with almost 55 thousand active employees. Their main products are cigarettes, cigars, and nicotine pouches (Annual report of BAT, 2019). Their most recognizable subsidiaries organizations are Reynolds American, Imperial Tobacco Canada, Bentoel, Souza, Tekel and so on. The current CEO of British American Tobacco Plc is Jack Bowles who plays the most vital role to meet the target attainment and evolution of the company.

Organizational theory and its proper practice in the business are mandatory in all types of business organizations. This theory is helpful to run the organization more effectively, controlling the management and administration systems and solving the raising problems (Hanson, 2018). The first section of this assignment discusses the management style and state principle and function of management used by Jack Bowles, CEO of BAT. Secondly analysis regarding organizational structure for gaining better performance and activities and impact on their staffs. Thirdly various and suitable leadership styles of the CEO of this company are presented. In Forth part call attention to the effect of power, influence and conflicts of the organization. Then several kinds of motivational theories that are used in this company are broadly analyzed. After that discuss the corporate example and literature justification and finally, some recommendations are provided to develop the company’s performance.

2.0 Examine the management style and state the principle and functions of management used by the CEO of British American Tobacco

Management style is worked on the major four steps like planning, organizing, controlling and directing.

Principles of management used by the CEO of British American Tobacco:

Jack Bowles is the present CEO of British American Tobacco has particular and effective principles of management and legislation for a successful business. He maintains and applies Fayol’s principles of management.

Fourteen significant components are related to these principles that ensure the development and efficient business conduction and management approaches. He takes importance on the division of work that helps the entire employees and staff to do their certain jobs and responsibilities in full effort. He knows about the authority and its proper application. Discipline and unite of command are also significant components in his business management principles that assist to organize among the company’s management methods and the workers. He is concerned about the individuals and general interests of the staff and makes sure the proper and adequate payment of them (Garry, 2019). He has appropriate ethics and morality about order and equity in the workplace and concerned about the chain of command.

Basic roles of the management of British American Tobacco: The reflection of Mintzberg’s set of management’s roles are found in the management systems of this company. Jack Bowles is greatly working on these roles.

These roles are categorized into three parts such as interpersonal roles, informational roles and decisional roles. The CEO of British American Tobacco has a reputation to uphold these roles effectively. According to interpersonal roles he provided information through figurehead that deals with performing ceremonial responsibilities, inspiring workers and creating agreements as required. In information roles, he monitors the gathered information and data and plays the role of disseminator and spokesperson (Handdi, 2019). He is also considered an entrepreneur, resources and assets allocator and tries to solve any kinds of disagreements among the company that confirms his suitable decisions roles.

Skills of managers of British American Tobacco: Managers are considered as one of the most important people to conduct a business properly so that they should have several effectual and fundamental skills and expertness. They have to management skills, technological skills, conceptual skills communication skills and also human skills and so on (Perry, 2019). Proper allocation of these skills can make sure the progress and development of any kind of organization as well as British American Tobacco and create a better working environment among the entire staff.

Organizational functions of management: To ameliorate the company’s growth Jack Bowles focus on strategy formulation and strategy implementation. For that process there are four key elements are included like planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The CEO of British American Tobacco accepts better planning that involved the vision, mission, strategizing, goals and objectives.

Another element is organizing; He is capable of better organizing the company’s design, culture and social network. He is very confident with his job and responsibilities that can help him to do better leadership, decision making and communication making according to the organizational needs and requirements (Vallie, 2019). He has also the ability to control the system process and methods and human resource management of the company.

3.0 Analyze the steps taken with regard to organizational structure in order to achieve high performance and state the organizational culture at British American Tobacco and its impact on the employees

Interactions between the organizational structure & different functions: For gaining the better performance of the organization and worldwide success it is most required to balance among the organizational functions and its different functions and its accurate management. Matrix organizational structure is highly followed through Jack Bowles because it is the best way to make apposite interactions among them. This organization has several sectors in which different types of people are led to these sectors and involved with it. There are top managers, manufacture managers, sales managers, finance managers and human resource manager teams or committees (Hanson, 2018)…………………………….
