1.0 Introduction
Academic skills develop the academic integrity, numeracy and literacy of the students. On the other hand, a set of skills, characteristics, traits and attributes of a person that supports the person to get the desired employment as well as to be prosperous in the place of work is known as employability skills (Cottrell, 2016). This assignment is mainly focused on academic and employability skills and discussed how to develop these skills. In the first section, the concept of academic and employability skills is described. Then, the importance of academic and employability skills is explained. After that, how the learning in this module helps me to develop my academic and employability skills are described. In addition, the next section is described in the concept of the skills gap. Moreover, how to develop the skills gap is explained. Then, the next section is described how I have achieved weaknesses in several academic and employability skills. Finally, the last section is described in the employability and academic skills that I need for future employment.
2.0 Concept of Academic skill and Employability skill
Academic Skills
As Harrison (2015) notes, the term “Academic Skills” is referred to those skills which support the students to develop their language skill, self-management skill, listening skill, and learning skills. On the other hand, academic skills also develop the academic integrity, numeracy, and literacy of the students.

Several experts define employability skills in different ways. A set of skills, characteristics, traits, and attributes of a person that supports the person to get the desired employment as well as to be prosperous in the place of work is known as employability skills (Cottrell, 2016). As Gravells (2015) notes, employability skills are the major skills that are necessary for every person to get a job. Transferable skills, career management skills, and personal skills are the other name of employability skills. There are different types of employability skills which are communication skills, teamwork skills, leadership skills, time management skills, research and analytical skills, problem-solving skill, decision-making skills, flexibility skills, technical skills, and critical thinking skills, etc.
3.0 Importance of Academic and Employability Skills
Academic and employability skills are very much important for a personal life. As Turner (2016) notes, academic skills are significant for working people because they must need higher education to tackle the occupations which are technologically demanding in the future. Without higher education, working people cannot get these occupations. Persons with successful academic skills have great self-esteem and low-level anxiety or depression in their life. However, persons with positive self-confidence and self-esteem are significant factors in the workplace. On the other hand, employability skills are also very important for a person. Employability skills include time management skills, leadership skills, communication skills, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, research and analytical skills, decision-making skills, team working skill, etc. These skills are beneficial for both individual and employment. Employability skills help a person to get a good job. The persons with these skills are very successful in their life and they can easily get any type of job in this challenging era.
