Introduction

This assignment mainly focuses on different topics. First of all, this assignment examines different categories and dimensions of events. Secondly, this assignment discusses the features and current trends that can influence the event industry. Thirdly, this assignment designs an event layout to correctly set up a conference or event room to meet specific requirements of the clients. Fourthly, this assignment examines different additional services that are within the conference or event environment. Fifthly, this assignment reviews different management skills and personal attributes required to work within the events industry. Finally, this assignment explains appropriate measures that are necessary to provide a secure and safe event venue, a safe environment for guests and a safe working environment for events staff.

P1 Examine the different categories and dimensions of events, using specific examples to illustrate the differences

An event means a public gathering for purpose of reunion, celebration, marketing or education. In addition, an event is mainly categorized by focusing on its types, sizes and context (Capell, 2016). There are mainly three categories and dimensions of events including private event, corporate event and charity event which are described as follows:

Private event

The private events are mainly used for the individuals who basically book the venues for weddings, wedding receptions, festival gatherings, birthday parties and others. In addition, the industry of private events is not so varied. On the other hand, the rooms for private events are usually booked for parties or celebrations basically for the wedding events because of hosts wanting privacy for the events as well as in this case afford private venue unlike different business organizations including schools, manufacturers and businesses (Khir, 2014).  Private events are mainly used for the individuals who focus on certain guests and this kind of event is not open to the public.

Corporate event

Corporate events are mainly used for business organizations to promote the brand and products of the business including business dinners, seminars, conferences, meetings, networking events and product launches. In addition, corporate events mainly support different objectives of a business such as management functions that help to develop the morals of the company and to increase the business profitability by promoting products and brands. In addition, corporate events help to create professional relations between the employees and other businesses (Nelson, 2016). Corporate events are mainly used by business organizations of all types and sizes to make a corporate image and to make loyalty with the existing customers as well as suppliers.

Charity event

The charity events are mainly used for the individuals who want to increase money for the charitable organization by the events including sports events, society balls and charitable auctions.  On the other hand, a number of charity events ask for sponsors for the individuals taking part in events to increase money for the charity (Getz, 2016). In addition, the industry of charity events is a diverse industry because any individual can easily go to the charity venue. The charity events also help the local businesses to pick up the worth able charitable event by contributing to the charity in the local community that can also bring benefits for the business.

The conference and event sector is a significant factor for the travel and tourism industry. The conference and event segment mainly influences or shapes the corporate as well as private assemblies from a few to the thousands of the participants for meetings, special functions and conferences (McDonald, 2017). There are a number of features and current trends that influence the event sector which is mainly categorized into four categories including industry performance trends, attendee performance trends, meeting destination trends and event technology trends…………………………..
