Personal and professional development needs a good plan and actions to perform an effective role in the workplace especially in health & social care. This paper is to be made due to identify adequate information about the roles, duties as well as responsibilities of a person to perform an effective role in the workplace especially in health & social care. The personal development plan is also described in this study. The other factors related to the personal as well as professional development of a person especially in health & social care are also described in this paper. The overall discussion helps to enhance the quality of the performance of a social worker to perform effective roles in health & social care organizations.
a) SWOT Analysis and assessing the result of Honey and Mumford Learning Style questionnaire
SWOT analysis is used to determine personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. My experience of working in the health and social care setting has revealed the fact that some of my skills still need consistent improvements, while those skills I have at the moment have proved to be very helpful for my professional performance and further development.

From the SWOT analysis of mine, I found I have great power in the communication, theoretical as well as practical knowledge about the services of patients of health care that increase my potentiality in this field. But some factors influence the personal development goal (Hambrick, 2011). I get emotionally attached to the people coming to the health and social care workplace and I have little knowledge of the new legislation regarding health and social care workplace. Additionally, I become frustrated when I faced a critical and difficult problem in my workplace. Therefore, I have used my opportunities to over the weaknesses and threats of personal development.
Assessing the result of the Honey and Mumford Learning Style questionnaire
As a social & health care worker, I have attained several important experiences that help me in the near future. In this social care service, I have given both the health services along with the social supports to the patients. However, there are some limitations that I have found in my workplace. The patients were talked to me and mentioned that they prefer health services to social support. I have studied the Honey and Mumford Learning Style and found the following results:
I analyzed Herzberg’s two-factor theory and other theories to understand the nature and motivation of the workplace. I found that the workplace nature and motivation techniques affect the performance of the workers. I have used the questionnaire and found that most of the workers think that the motivation of the workers their performance depends on the recognition, advancement, and opportunities of the workplace. Therefore, I also analyzed several satisfaction theories to determine the employees’ performance along with their satisfaction. I found that performance and satisfaction are positively correlated. For this reason, the quality of health and social care services depends on the quality of motivation techniques and job satisfaction of the workers. My research results should be used only after extinction does not work, and should not be excessive or destructive.
b) My development plan
Planning is the most important aspect of every individual’s life. It is necessary that an individual should develop a plan which should include the short term goals, medium-term goals and long term goals. It is also necessary that after preparing the plans an individual should work on it and should try to attain all the goals in prescribed time as these will help in taking the life to a better future and will help in attaining success in life (Whetten, 2011). My holistic development plan will include SMART objectives which are specific, measurable, attainable, and relevant and time-bound. Such type of objectives ensures success in the life of an individual.
