1.0 Introduction
Breyfogle (2017) said that a business system is a systematic process and procedure which is mainly used as the delivery system to provide particular products and services to its specific customers. Benson (2016) stated that a business system is the standard process that sets out how a business organization works. In addition, a business system should be well-designed and should be customized by focusing on the business operations (Harry, 2015). ‘Fruity Cake’ is the chosen company for this organization. ‘Fruity Cake’ is a small baking company that has been operated its business for 7 years. The first section of this report analyzes different analytical tools and techniques to a business system of Fruity Cake. The second section of this report provides some recommendations for Fruity Cake’s organizational processes and systems.
2.0 Using analytical tools in the context of a business system
There are a number of analytical tools and techniques which are used in the business system of an organization including system analysis system, process mapping system, reverse engineering system, stakeholder analysis and CATWOE analysis system which are described and analyzed as following for Fruity Cake:
2.1 Systems analysis
Systems analysis is a very simple analysis technique that analyzes the business system. As Cashman (2016) notes, the system analysis technique mainly concentrates on atomization as well as mechanization of a business system or process. DeMasi (2017) stated that system analysis is a process of analyzing business systems for business development purposes. It is mainly used for information technology (IT) whereas the computer-based system is necessary to define the system of a business. Frantzen (2015) disclosed that the system analysis technique usually operates with the systems, process, people, tools and culture of a business and the system analysis technique focuses on the strategy of a business. However, system analysis is more than that because system analysis is not about just analysis of those things but also the specification of business requirements which are transformed into the system requirements in the business systems and processes. According to Davis (2017), the system analysis of a business is mainly analyzed by the system analyst of a business. On the other hand, different functions of the business system are analyzed sometimes by the line manager and project manager.
In the case of Fruity Cake, it is a small baking company that has been operated for seven years. For the last two years, their order and profit have increased. However, there are some limitations in its organizational structure and system. Their business system is not so effective because their current business system is working in a lengthy way. The managing director and the finance director mainly operate all the business processes, and there are some employees under them. The managing director manages the production and packaging side where the finance director manages the admin and delivery and logistic side. There may be a communication gap between the members of these two sections, and the employees maybe not so much skilled and experienced. Thus, the business system of Fruity Cake is very poor.
2.2 Process mapping
As Damelio (2017) notes, process mapping is the analytical tool that helps an organization visualize its business processes and systems about what it is doing. Keller (2016) said that process mapping of a business helps a business organization to provide the visual manner about how they analyze, improve and understand the current method of business working. There are some reasons behind why a business organization maps its business processes. The key purpose of the process mapping of business organizations is to develop business efficiency. Conger (2017) said that process mapping gives an understanding of a business process that helps the teams of businesses to brainstorm about different ideas for developing the process, increasing communication between different business sections and providing proper documentation for business processes. In addition, the process mapping technique helps to define the boundaries of business processes, business process ownership, and effectiveness of the business process (Darwish, 2017)……………
