Introduction

Health and safety work in businesses reduce workplace accidents, absence, and sickness. The organization should provide free health and safety training for the workforce. For this assignment my chosen organization is Zara. In this assignment describe key questions such as, first of all, I describe legal requirements and regulations for ensuring the health, safety, and security of those employed in the business. Then, describe the requirements for a healthy and safe workplace. After that, describe the roles and responsibilities for the health and safety of key personal in Zara. Finally, describe the work plan a risk assessment for Zara’s administrative work environment.

P1 Explain the legal requirements and regulations for ensuring the health, safety, and security of those employed in the business

In this section, I will describe some health and safety regulation those effect on working place. Every business organization has tried to give a healthy and safe workplace for its workforce. Zara has applied its workplace health and safety regulations effectively. Every staff wants a safe and healthy workplace. On the other hand given the safety and security is very significant for a business organization. Employees use regulations that ensure a safe workplace. Employers have a legal responsibility to ensure that health and safety.

Employees use the rules and regulations in their workplace safe and keep their rights within the business. Every employer has a responsibility to ensure the health and safety workplace by following the rules and regulations. Nowadays in business organizations, employees have more rights Such as safety rights, health workplace rights, and security rights. The implementation of those rights is the responsibility of the business organization. Zara must be followed by those employees’ rights.

These are some responsibilities of the employer that’s are; employer always maintains a healthy and safe workplace for employees. The right person will recruit for the relative task. They will provide regular training to employees. They take care of the employees. In addition, employees have some responsibilities. They will take care of their health and safety their working and others’ time. When they will have any problem with their work then, they will share it with their employer. To ensure the rights of employees have some legal requirements those are;

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1974

The purpose of this law is to help to reduce employees’ harm, by measuring potential risks and creating an action plan and steps to follow for potential emergencies that could occur in the business. It will protect staff in the production department but also will protect people not working by people who are working. There are a lot of potential hazards that could occur inside the production department because they use heavy and fragile equipment that is extremely expensive to in and to replace therefore this needs to be handled correctly.

Zara follows this law by ensuring all staff in the production department have the right training and knowledge of how to avoid and handle potential accidents. The production department also completes risk assessments after an accident occurs as this is following the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations. Zara makes sure they get special technicians to handle the chemicals to ensure they are providing safety for themselves. The production staff must complete and review risk assessments at given times and make appropriate modifications even if they are small changes because this is significant to health and safety in business because even the smallest change can cause a problem and a risk to the staff. The risk measurement should include some essential things in it such as; hazards being identified, workers been identified, the seriousness of the risk, recordings of the findings.

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

Health and Safety at work Act 1974 is an important part of legalization and this act is an enabling act which means that other legislation can be added to it without having to change the act itself (Ridley, 2016). Nowadays all employers’ this act applied to their workplace. This act has 5 main acts which are; a) provide the security of the workplace, b) to protect people who aren’t in the workplace from those who are, c) to ensure all explosives are transported handled and stored safely d)  to replace existing safety legalization, e) to remain up to date. This law states that if there are more than 5 people in the business, which there are in the production department, therefore Zara’s production department must have a written Health and Safety policy.

This contains necessary procedures for a business with relevant laws affecting Zara e.g. a risk measurement. The Health and Safety Act 2008 increased the power of legalization by imposing tougher sentences on those staff who fail to follow the 1974 Act which is a good thing because it will stop people from not following the 1974 Act. At Zara, employees have a responsibility to take reasonable care for their health and safety themselves and other people in responsibility for the work. Also, they comply with Zara’s health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Finally, Zara must be following this act for their employees’ health and safe workplace.

The Workplace (Health, Safety, and Welfare) Regulations 1992

This regulation applies to all organizations in the workplace. This act mainly includes the working environment and facilities. The responsibilities of the business organization are ensuring their employee’s security and workplace environment. In addition, employees or other people are aware of their workplace environment and security. The main aim of the regulation is to ensure important welfare is kept. This regulation is mainly explained in two areas; the working environment and facilities. In the working environment, this includes regulations to do with airing and the production department must ensure they have an effective supply of fresh air and other things. Zara gets cleaned of its production department.

They ensure a good environment in the workplace. Zara gets cleaned effectively and often to ensure they are following the act and ensuring sanitation in the workplace. There must be appropriate tools in the production departments that should be stored well and are kept clean at all times in order for the staff to use it. There in the production department smoking, drinking, or this relative thing is forbidden because they can cause danger. Finally, Nowadays, All business organizations must be following this regulation.

The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995

Nowadays, business organizations are very unsecure. Every day there happened injuries, dangerous occurrences, and death. As can be seen in a report more than 1.6 million staff injuries happen at work every year. As a result, two hundred staff die every year. this report collected from the business environment.  The regulation act 1995 ensures all accidents, diseases, and hazards occurrences.

Every organization wants its organization to keep free from danger. Such as, Zara always tries to keep the production department safe. Zara keeps in the production department soap and sanitizers to remove any diseases and dangerous injuries. Zara has an on-site treatment center that has the latest first aid kit and other appropriate equipment needed in case of a potential injury or illness.  However, these regulations ensure the service of employees.

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1994

A business organization is comprised of different tools that are used for the product. Specifically the production department, their employees are a danger in various ways because the production department used are various harmful materials for this product. There are various ways employees can get harmed or exposes to harmful chemicals and substances of the materials which is why this act was put in place to ensure they are used, handled, and stored safely. Zara gives training to their staff to ensure they are aware of the procedures to control the substances.

Zara have expert employees, they easily manage their task and they can identify any technical problem. Their employees gauge out the substances, handle them, and transport them properly to ensure that they are handled safely and no one is at risk. The regulation concerns information on the products and work practices associated with the substances hazardous to health capable of causing bad health effects or disease. The production department of Zara employees can ensure their substances and overcome any hazardous situation.

P2Describe the requirements for a healthy and safe workplace, as applied to the physical environment and equipment used in Zara

Zara is a multinational retailer organization. There are many staff working in the production department. Zara must ensure their workplace is safe and secure to have staff working in the production department. They have followed those regulations to ensure their workplace health and safety within the production department. In this section, I will describe the requirements for a healthy and safe workplace as applied to the physical environment and equipment.

Physical Environment and Equipment

Falling objects: Good equipment is needed for the product manufacturing sector. Expired equipment can cause injury to anyone, that it could potentially fall from this is to ensure that it doesn’t hit anyone or cause an accident (Ridely, 2017). The production department ensures any of the equipment that is kept above ground level that is hazardous, is kept away in drawers or shelves which are secure. The production department keeps all the heavier pieces of equipment nearer to the ground to prevent falling objects, Must have the necessary equipment in the product manufacturing sector………………………………………………………………………….
