Introduction
As a local newspaper’s junior journalist, my duty is to give ideas for running a local business’s feature article. This article’s purpose is to establish the significance of giving efficient or effective help to the business. On the other hand, it must be capable to develop the knowledge or skills for functioning different tasks to help the activities of the business.
This assignment is divided into six main tasks. Firstly, functional areas of the organization named Boots are described by the task. Secondly, different factors which are involved while working in the international support role are explained. Thirdly, in what way they support roles vary in several organizations are described. Fourthly, the support roles’ effectiveness in the organization named Boots is clarified. Fifthly, a plan for resources and time for support roles is made by this task. Last, of all, this task refers to the appropriate policies or procedures in giving support for the activity.

Definition of support in term of business
Different challenges, circumstances and opportunities are faced by the business. The business term ‘support’ means to give them opportunities to the business to face different challenges and circumstances. It also means to gain the goals of the organization (Johnson et al., 2015). There are different types of ‘support’ in the business such as information support (for example, internal and research procedures, worker illness information), logistics support (such as meeting and management, accommodation or travel), project support, transactional support (such as the recovery of debt), and financial support (such as analysis or management of budget) (Prime Solutions, 2017).
Functional areas in business
Functional areas are the employees’ teams who have some expertise or skills (Woods, 2017). The common functional areas of a business are: sales, marketing, finance, human resource, customer service, production, administration etc. The diagram of the functional areas in a business is given as follows:
Key functional areas of Boots
Customer services: The most significant functional area of Boots is customer service. For each and every organization the customers are the key issue to gain the objectives or goals of an organization. It is important to fulfill the expectations of the customers. Thus, Boots has an effective and efficient customer service department. Boots trained all of its employees to manage the complaints or queries confidently or skillfully. All the staffs are very skillful to manage this service. Moreover, the staffs of Boots deal with the problems and fix all the problems of the customers. Boots has extraordinary policies to deal with the customers’ queries consistently or quickly (Boots, 2017).
Sales and marketing: Marketing means meeting and identify the needs of the customers (Ward, 2014). Marketing is the other important functional area for Boots. Thus, Boots has an effective marketing department to operate its business function. Boots’ marketing department includes the marketing mix strategies which include places, products, promotions and prices. Moreover, Boots is very concerned about social media marketing to gain the objectives of its business. It also does marketing through its websites, blogs and different promotional activities. On the other hand, sales mean the exchange of services or products for money (Saxby, 2017). Website of Boots is the key method of cooperating with its potential customers. They sales its products through its website and give offer for the products seasonally. Moreover, Boots has sales targets to gain the goal of the organization. The sales team is very responsible for it (Boots, 2017).
Research and Development: Research and development mean the introduction, improvement or innovation of the services and products of an organization (Investopedia, 2017). The boots research and development section is concerned with the introduction of the latest products, improvements of the current products. Moreover, it engages with product innovation as well as design. This is essential for Boots of finding the market research and the feedback of the customers (Boots, 2017).
Human resource management: Human resource department is the essential part of an organization of staff well-being (Entrepreneur, 2017). Boots has its own HR department to deal with its staff. This department helps Boots to hire or recruit new staff as well as making sure that each job post is filled by an experienced or skilled person. The process of recruitment is very time-consuming and effective. It is a problem for the organization to recruit the wrong person. The HR department of Boots is giving better performance appraisals, best reward and incentives for the employees. Moreover, the HR department of Boots provides training or development programs for its employees (Boots, 2017).
Finance: Finance is the significant functional area of a business. Boots has a specific finance department. Thus, Boots manages the financial matters appropriately to gain the goals and objectives of its business. The finance department is accountable to maintain the budget and resource allocation of an organization. The main duties of this department are: collecting income and dealing with the financial matters with the government. Boots deals with IS (Information System) to manage its financial issues, to make the yearly financial report and to do financial assessment such as expenditure and income (Boots, 2017)……………….
