Tesco overtook Sainsbury’s to become the market leader in the year 1995, and Asda became the third biggest supermarket chain in the UK. It has 1415 stores across the UK. It servers millions of customers every week with about 162,700 employees. It gained £23.506 billion in revenue in 2016, £707 million in operating income, and £471 million in net income in 2016 (Sainsbury’s, 2018).
