Unit 1 Business Culture & Responsibilities Sample Assignment (GC01113)
Unit 1: Business culture and responsibilities
Learning Outcome: 01
Task 1.1 Produce a report on ‘improving the sustainability within a business environment’ by ‘analyzing the benefits of keeping the waste to a minimum.
The robust definition is that business sustainability represents resiliency over time – businesses that can survive shocks because they are intimately connected to healthy economic, social, and environmental systems (Financial Times, 2017). Business sustainability is often defined as managing the triple bottom line – a process by which companies manage their financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities. However, this approach relies on an accounting-based perspective and does not fully capture the time element that is inherent within business sustainability.
For industrial development to be sustainable, it must address important issues at the macro level, such as economic efficiency (innovation, prosperity, and productivity), social equity (poverty, community, health and wellness, human rights) and environmental accountability (climate change, land use, biodiversity). Business sustainability requires firms to adhere to the principles of sustainable development.
Environmental and Social: Recycling paper, aluminum cans, ink cartridges, and even office machinery and equipment can help reduce the global environmental impact of consumer consumption. Reducing waste in the workplace through reuse and recycling efforts has a positive impact on the environment (Financial Times, 2017). Organizations may be able to generate extra revenue by selling aluminum or machinery as scrap metal. Other options, such as composting, can reduce waste even further.
Financial: Minimizing the waste of the business in landfills can take tax savings. It is pricey to maintain the business’s waste. Business organizations can be able to achieve extra revenue from recovered parts of the building as well as the materials that are recycled. Moreover, efficient products of business minimize the purchasing cost for the latest products of business (Financial Times, 2017).
Employee motivation and morale: It is significant to move from the hard copy papers to the e-newsletter to let customers know about minimizing the paper’s use in the business organization. It is essential to factor to interconnect with the customers thru e-mail and other systems of electronic communication rather than applying paper to diminish the waste of business and it improves the productivity of the staff (Financial Times, 2017).
Task 1.2(a): Write a report on the agreed procedures for ‘recycling’
Recycling is an essential component of speedy and efficient waste management. Non-biodegradable wastes and products sapping precious natural resources, essentially trees, and fossil fuels can wreak havoc on our environment and bio-diversity (Compactor Management Company, 2017). Recycling is the only way out of this desperate situation. We will deal with the pros and cons of recycling, with the hope that sustained researchers will outweigh the disadvantages with newfound benefits.
Recycling effectively helps manage disposables in congested areas by not burdening the earth with landfills. It conserves energy as recycling can crank out new products at a fraction of energy compared to the energy used in the creation of brand-new products. Also, recycling leads to the emission of less volume of noxious gasses in the environment. Because of recycling need for transportation, mining, and other allied activities is greatly reduced. The entire array of non-biodegradable wastes like plastics can be recycled, thus saving the land from getting barren from toxic leakages. Aluminum cans are in abundant use.
Our Recommended Resources:
Recycling wasted cans can save a humongous amount of energy as the extraction of low-energy aluminum atoms from their bauxite ores demand freedom from an oxide state, which consumes an immense amount of energy (Compactor Management Company, 2017). Recycling of organic matter leads to the generation of valuable compost which serves as plant fertilizer. Methane is also produced which can serve as fuel for many things, specifically cooking. Recycling leads to the conservation of precious natural resources (especially trees and water) and helps protect animal habitats. Fossil fuels take millions of years to form.
The balance of oxygen and carbon-dioxide is adequately maintained. Earth will be healthier and greener as landfills will not gobble fallow land and parks. Global warming is averted and other natural disasters are kept at bay. Less landfill and waste littering ensure that the topmost fertile soil is not eroded away. Aquatic biodiversity is maintained as wastes are saved from being dumped in the ocean leading to depletion of vital nutrients. Recycling instills concern for the environment in people. Innovations drive scientific advancements in producing less natural resource-intensive products. Ordinary householders can make some money by contributing used items to recycle bins and corners managed by the government (Compactor Management Company, 2017)……………
