Introduction
According to Armstrong and Taylor (2014), Human Resource Management (HRM) is a kind of strategic approach of an organization’s effective management system for the workers that support that organization to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Fletcher (2016) said that HRM is a practice of hiring, recruiting as well as managing the workers of an organization. The selected organization for this assignment is Kingfisher Plc. Kingfisher plc is the organization for home improvement which has about 1,300 stores in different countries including Russia, Turkey, and Europe (Kingfisher Plc, 2019). This company operates mainly under the four retail brands such as Castorama, B&Q, Screwfix, and Brico Dépôt. In addition, this company services about six million customers per week through its stores and digital channels.
This assignment includes different sections. The first section of this assignment explains the purpose and functions of HRM which are applicable to workforce planning and for resourcing an organization. The second section of this assignment explains the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and selection. The third section of this assignment explains the benefits of the HRM practices within an organization for both employer and the employees. Finally, the fourth section evaluates the effectiveness of different HRM practices in terms of raising the profit and productivity of a company.

Beardwell (2014) said that HRM (Human Resource Management) is a method that helps to make plans, develop different policies and programs for the human resources of a business organization. In addition, HRM is concerned with the proper exploitation of an organization’s human resources that helps to bring better outcomes for both organizations and their employees. According to Armstrong and Taylor (2014), it also helps to maintain a good relationship between the employer and the employees.

Purpose of HRM
The key purposes of Human Resource Management (HRM) are:
