Introduction

The purpose of this study is to obtain examples of how companies have been actively involved in the health and safety of their employees (Ramsey, 2016). The selected organization for this assignment is Ocado. This assignment focuses on four key tasks. The first task of this assignment explains the legal requirements and regulations for ensuring the health, safety, and security of those employed in the business. The second task describes the requirements for a healthy and safe workplace, as applied to the physical environment and equipment used in Ocado. The third task explains the roles and responsibilities for the health and safety of key personnel in Ocado. Finally, the fourth task plans a risk assessment for Ocado’s administrative work environment. This guide explains how to assess and reduce the risks of using workplace equipment

P1 Explain the legal requirements and regulations for ensuring the health, safety, and security of those employed in the business

Ocado employees need to take reasonable precautions to protect others in the workplace as they do. Businesses like the Citizens Advice Bureau will have an impact on the Health and Safety Act of 1974 because it will force them to ensure that the building they are working on meets health and safety standards. This will include things like getting out of the fire to make sure the environment is safe, but doing things like smoking and not smoking ensures that the environment is healthy.

Employees nowadays have more and more rights and responsibilities and laws have been put into place to ensure both the employees and employers are working together to make sure everyone within the operational department is safe. Some of an employer’s duties are that; they have to maintain safe areas for employees to work in, arrange for appropriate people to carry out equipment such as tables, chairs, substances because teachers legally are not allowed to do this in case they hurt themselves, they have to provide information, training, and supervision relating to health and safety (Bolton, 2018).

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1974

Responsible for the enforcement of other laws and statutory instruments related to the health and safety functioning functions and environment, including those of the local authority (and other force enforcement authorities). The Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 (also known as the HSWA, HSW Act, 1974 Act or Smile) is the primary part of the law covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain. Employers must prepare and review a safety policy and bring their employees to the notice. Ocado follows this law by ensuring that he has the proper training and knowledge of how to avoid and handle potential accidents.

The executive department also completes risk assessments after an accident occurs because it follows health and safety management at procedures. Ocado has got specialized technicians to handle chemicals to make sure they are protecting themselves. Trade unions may appoint security agents and demand protection committees (Winnie, 2018). The representatives have a right to be consulted on safety issues. Since 1996 employers have had a duty to consult all employees on safety matters.

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 is the primary piece of legislation governing workplace health and safety in Great Britain. There are also main pieces of regulation that are integral to managing health and safety at work. The implementation of these regulations does not have to be a daunting, time consuming, or costly affair. Follow our guide to workplace health and safety legislation in the UK for a summary of the key policies and procedures and understand what you need to do to keep your work environment healthy, safe, and compliant.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, sometimes referred to as HSW, HSWA, HASAW 1974 or HASAWA, is an Act of Parliament that sets out the framework for managing workplace health and safety in the UK. There is, however, further specific legislation for business sectors that operate within a higher risk environment, such as the construction industry, chemical manufacturing, etc. The act itself is a primary piece of legislation set out by the government (Smith, 2017).

The Workplace (Health, Safety, and Welfare) Regulations 1992

Workplaces and equipment, devices, and systems are maintained in an efficient state, in good working order, and in good repair. These rules are for the ‘workplace’ (trying to ensure that no premises or part of premises that are not an interior courtyard and are available) as a workplace. Safe for Workers) in the workplace and equipment, devices, and systems Lee is a state, is to be maintained in good working order and in good repair.

The main purpose of this Act is to ensure that the primary welfare is maintained. This law is divided into 2 parts; Work environment and facilities. In the work environment, it includes ventilation rules and the operational department must ensure that they have an efficient supply of fresh air (Adams, 2017).

All the windows and doors in the operational department at Ocado get cleaned effectively and often to ensure they are following the act and ensuring hygiene is met. Employees must also be protected from dangerous substances including those that may burn or scald, any poisonous or toxic substance or any fume, vapor, or other substance that is likely to cause danger to any person.

Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2002

Works Complementary to Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supplies) Regulations 2002, which require labeling of hazardous substances by suppliers other regulations related to labeling and signature of pipes and containers, and by the EU Regulations on the registration, evaluation, approval, and control of chemicals from the 21st. More on dangerous chemicals Level control system was added.

Regulations require that any employer should not perform the obligatory duty of employees and non-employees, such as members of the public, without risk assessment for the hazardous substances for health and applying the necessary steps to comply with the regulations. The evaluation must include consideration of any information provided by a substance delivery provider and must be reviewed regularly, and health monitoring should be considered when the method of work has changed or if the result is no longer valid due to requirements……………………………
