Introduction

The main purpose of this task is to write a reflective journal. In the first assignment, the reason behind the practice of Corporate Social Responsibility in business is examined. Besides this, the challenges that arise in business are also examined. In this journal a very common reflective model i.e. Gibb’s model of reflection is used.  This model is very effective in reflecting any events or evidence. This model has six important steps. They are feeling, description, analysis, evaluation, action plan and conclusion. This model is applicable in numerous situations. It is a very effective tool for students to start easily.

Reflective Journal

The manner in which the process of producing the related task in any organization is discussed is known as the reflection account. It is considered as a corresponding assessment. In professional and personal development, it acts as a very important tool for developing skills and abilities. The employees should always use the reflective account for developing their skills and overcoming their weaknesses.  They must analyze the business plans and have the ability to compare the business goals and objectives with individual development plans in order to reach the desired destination (Hoyle, 2018).

Gibb’s model of reflection

In 1988 Graham Gibbs gave an effective model of reflecting any events or activities. At present it is very popular among the employees as well as students to reflect on their activities and improve their skills according to the reflection model. This model consists of six different stages. They are explained below:

Descriptions

According to the researcher, to develop a career as a marketing manager in the retail sector it is required to have enough skills, knowledge and experience. Marketing managers are the organizational discipline that manages the development, implementation, and execution of deliberate marketing plans for an entire organization to attract customers and retain existing ones. The researcher collects the primary data by meetings, events, fairs and conferences. Tesco’s manager reveals that to develop a career as a marketing manager some skills are very essential for example; critical thinking, time management, problem solving and active listening. Besides these, one should have knowledge about communication, customer-employee relationship, personal services, marketing, administration and media as well. One should have some basic personal skills such as; decision-making skills, cooperation skills, encouragement skills and operational skills. According to a care development conference in Tesco, one should have active learning skills, socializing skills and monitoring skills. Besides the skills, one should have some practical knowledge that can be gained by experience.

Feelings

This step describes the feelings of the employee about his/her existing-working position (Linton, 2016). My teammates are very cooperative, friendly and hardworking. I can frequently make any decision and I do my job. As a marketing manager, I have lots of decisions to make. My teammates are very helpful in making the appropriate decision. They are very reliable. I make plans for every teammate and they happily appreciated my plans. I divide the task to every worker and instruct them accordingly. For every employee who works under me, I provide motivational activities and speeches. I try to solve any problem or conflict that arises in the workplace as soon as possible. Though I try to build a great reputation, due to the lacking of my communication, my reputation slightly goes down.

Evaluations

I noticed the vacancy of this post in an advertisement “Marketing Manager” which is advertised by Henry Nicholas, Dorset, UK. I have chosen the role for some reason. The first reason behind the selection of this role is that I can build my career working in the retail sector as a marketing manager. This job provides working flexibility to meet my need. The second reason is that this job gives me the opportunity to interact with the customers about the sales and services that the company provides. Besides this, I can directly help the customers who are in need by providing appropriate information about sales and promotional offers. Also, I have the opportunity to build a good relationship with the customers and become a socialized person. The third reason is that this job has less stress which is in favor of healthy mental health. And finally, this job provides me with a significant amount of salary. I can easily live my life with this amount of money. It helps me to live a healthy and happy life. I prefer this job over many jobs as I can learn many useful skills and knowledge which can be very effective in the future if I want to switch my job. Thus it helps me to develop my career as a marketing manager in the retail sector of the UK.

Analysis

This analysis mainly related with the find out my weakness and problems that I suffered and worked as barriers of my ability (Linton, 2016). Two problems are found such as poor communication skills and insufficient decision-making skills. This section also analysis the solutions to these problems. My nature is standoffish so I cannot freely and easily communicate with other people. Usually, I feel embarrassed and suffer from indecision with my thoughts and ideas so it is the main barrier to my communication skills. I do have not a good relationship and connection with my colleagues. There is another problem is I am very much emotive so that sometimes I make a number of decisions with emotion rather than logic. I understand in business sectors the logical decisions are most required than emotional decisions. I take these emotional decisions by thinking about the cause and consequences properly so the organizations may suffer serious difficulties. So I should overcome the problems quickly to become a skilled employee for the organization.

Action Plan

The action plan works with the several activities that are helpful for solving any difficulties that faced the persons and increased and developed their working capacity more skillfully and appropriately (Linton, 2016). The major problem I suffered in the workplace is the poor communication skills that make me abandon the other staff. To overcome this problem there are adequate action plans. I can take several actions and plans such as meditation by yoga classes. Meditation is a mental exercise that increases self concentration and brings confidence on own and also to reduces fear and shyness. As marketing managers there are lots of responsibilities like conducting the business, select the proper strategies and techniques for the effective marketing of the products and services, correct decision-making process, conscious about the customers’ demands. It is apparent that marketing manager plays most important for an organization so they have different types of expertness and skills for examples sufficient leadership skills, creativity and innovation expertise, collaboration and exceptional communication skills as well as networking capability, good group work skills, sales skills, journalism skills, analytical skills, process design skills, social media skills, domain expertise, proper adaptability, planning skills, numerical expertise and also commercial consciousness and so on (Linton, 2016).

These skills and expertise have great influence and are the most required criteria for the marketing managers the developing the company and reach their target achievements as well as earn copious revenues and profits. The present world is a competitive world and business organizations have plentiful competitor companies that always concern to expand their business and gain more competitive advantages that other rival organizations. Thus marketing managers are considered as the most reliable and significant employees for any kind of business organization to enlarge the business as well as raise the sales and benefits. Marketing managers have ample knowledge about the marketing methods and approaches that is suitable for the gain the consumers’ attention and increase their sales. Gaining the customers’ contentment is the most vital component for an effective business. The marketing managers are more concerned and try hard to maintain the good standard products and services that meet the consumer’s demands and requirements through their innovation skills.

The retail business is more popular in the UK that’s why a lot of retail organizations exist in a marketplace in the UK so they have strong competition. The marketing managers whose have proper knowledge and experience in various field in retail sectors such as human resources area, sales and productions area, managing techniques and strategies area, innovation sectors, customers handling area are painstaking and strong proficiency of the definite company (Williams, 2015). To acknowledge the desire aims and goals of the definite retail company, the marketing managers who have that sufficient knowledge and experience are the assets for the certain organization because the company would not take their triumphant without the help of the marketing managers. To beat the other rivals’ organizations and hold the market share the proper effectual schemes and plans and marketing strategies that are prearranged through the marketing managers are most efficient.

Conclusion

I have to more concentrate and working hard to develop my skills and knowledge and also try to solve my problems. To belong in UK retail sector this improvement is most essential not only for my career’s development but also to meet the organizational goals and achievements.
