The first part of this paper explains about literature review and its purposes in terms of research work. On the other hand, the second part of this paper reviews the term ‘Equality in the Workplace’. In this part, first, the concept of “equality in the workplace” is discussed. Then, the importance of workplace equality is reviewed. Next, it is reviewed how equality can be ensured and practiced in the workplace.
2.0 What is a literature review and what does it achieve?
2.1 Concept of literature review
A literature review can be considered as the analysis and discussion of the published information on a topic or subject particularly (Grant, 2016). On the other hand, the literature review is more than a summary where this has the organizational pattern which links summary and synthesis. A literature review provides a handy guide on a particular subject or topic. In addition, the breadth and depth of the literature review highlight a writer’s credibility in his/her field. Brenda (2017) said that the literature review gives a solid background for the investigation of a research paper. Literature reviews play a significant role as the preparatory work for taking the research work in the future. According to Taylor (2018), a literature review allows the researcher to become an expert in a particular area to formulate research problems significantly. A literature review can be three types such as systematic review, integrative review, and meta-analysis review.

2.2 Steps to conduct a literature review
A literature review can be conducted by following some key steps. First, to conduct a literature review it is essential to choose a topic and define the research questions (Fink, 2017). Second, after choosing a topic and defining the research questions, the scope of the literature review needs to be defined. In the third stage, the review is done on the selected research topic and its subject areas (Fink, 2017). Finally, the finding of the literature review is summarized, literature gaps are identified, and a conceptual framework is developed for further research.
2.3 Main purposes of the literature review
According to Randolph (2016), a literature review is done for various purposes. First, the literature review reports on the knowledge that has been established on a key topic. Second, the literature review gives a position to research work and provides a perspective to readers. Third, the literature review demonstrates a researcher’s knowledge of a particular subject. Fourth, the literature review determines how each of the sources contributes to the literature topic. The fifth, literature review identifies the research questions and solves the research gaps. Finally, it justifies the choice of the research approach and research design.

The key importance of the literature review is that it analyzes as well as discusses the published information on a topic or subject particularly (Grant, 2016).
