Introduction
I am a junior journalist at a local newspaper. I have been tasked to make an article on the local business. This paper focused on the significance of the retail business in the UK economy. Nowadays, the retail business has become very popular all over the world including the UK. There are many retail companies in the UK that are operating very successfully.
This paper is divided into four tasks. In the first task, the structure and the organization related to the retail business are described. In the next task, the distributing methods of products through various channels from producer to the customer are explained. In the third task, the relationship between the customer and the retailers is described and the importance of this relation focused on in this section. The way of creating this good relationship is also described in this task. In the last task, the competitive factors which are faced by Sainsbury in the retail business are identified and discussed.

Retailing means the activities related to selling products to the ultimate customers for individual or household use. The customers can buy goods from a single point of buys such as a brick-and-mortar retail store, an online store, a catalog, or even a mobile phone.
Classification of types of stores
Department Store – A retail establishment which is offering a large range of customer products at several categories is known as a department store. Dawsons Department Store, Selfridges, and Fenwick Ltd are some famous department stores in the UK (Chand, 2015).
Supermarkets – Supermarket is a self-service store which is offering an extensive range of food and domestic goods, ordered into aisles. Aldi, Asda and Budgen are some famous supermarkets in the UK (Chand, 2015).
Warehouse retailers – It is generally located in a retail or Business Park and the location cost is lower. This type of retailer is offering stock, display, and retail a wide range of products at very competitive prices.
Specialty Retailers – This type of retailer is offering specific products and expert service to the customers. TOPSHOP, VICTORIA’S SECRET, and H&M are some famous specialty retailers in the UK (Chand, 2015)………….
