1.0 Introduction

Saunders et al. (2015) said that a literature review is investigated by a researcher to give an overview of different resources when researching a particular topic. Literature review and literature on CSR are the two focus points to this paper. First of all, this paper gives a brief on the literature review where the concept of literature review, types of literature review, purposes of literature review, and benefits of the literature review are explained. Secondly, this paper provides literature on CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) where the definition of CSR, the importance of CSR, models of CSR, and the importance of CSR in workplace equality id described.

2.0 What is Literature Review and What does it achieve?

2.1 Concept of literature review

As Jill (2016) notes, a literature review usually reviews journals, scholarly articles, books, and other sources on a specific issue and area that provides critical evaluation, description, or summary of those issues regarding the problem of research that is being investigated. Mark and Roberts (2017) said that a literature review is mainly investigated to give an overview of different resources that a researcher has discovered when researching a particular topic.

2.2 Reasons for reviewing the literature

Saunders et al. (2015) said that there exist two key reasons to review literature. Firstly, the literature review is the preliminary search that helps a researcher to make effective ideas for research. Secondly, the literature review is often mentioned as critical literature or critical review that helps research to critically analyze the topic of research including both positive and negative sides.

2.3 Types of Literature Review

There are different types of literature review which are described as below:

Integrative Review

According to Richard (2015), an Integrative review is a kind of literature review that critiques and reviews descriptive literature on a particular research topic in an integrated way. An effective integrative literature review achieves the same standards as the primary research regarding replication, rigor, and clarity.

Argumentative Review

An argumentative review is another type of literature review that surveys literature to support an argument, embedded assumption, and the philosophical problem that is established already in the literature (Roy and Leary, 2015). The key purpose of the argumentative review is to develop a literature review that establishes a contrarian point of view.

Systematic Review

Anthea (2017) said that a Systematic review is the other type of literature review that provides an overview of the current research information by using the standardized or pre-specified methods that ultimately help to analyze and collect research data. The key goal of a systematic review is to critically evaluate as well as summarize all of the research on a defined research problem.

Theoretical Review

The key purpose of the theoretical review is to review the quantity of theory that has gathered regarding a theory, concept, or phenomena. According to Rocco (2016), theoretical literature review supports a researcher to create which theories exist already, and to what extent the current theories have been explored. In addition, this literature review is applied to establish proper theories, or disclose the existing theories that are insufficient to explain new research problems…………….
