1.0 Introduction

The term “business creativity” can be described as the creativity in strategy and decision-making to conquer the difficulties encountered in the business. In other words, business creativity can be referred to as new inventions in marketing operations, strategy making and application of these strategies. In the current marketplace, the demands and the desires of the customers are changing frequently. In addition, the business encounters inbound and outbound challenges in the competitive marketplace. Thus, as Johnson et al. (2015) suggest, businesses need to bring creativity or innovative ideas in their business operations to avoid these difficulties. This paper provides a reflection on what I have achieved through the module named “Business Creativity”. This paper is outlined mainly in two sections. The first section gives a reflection on nine lectures/ topics of the “Business Creativity” module. The second section reflects the skills I have gained and the skills I still need to improve.

1.1 Concept of a reflective statement

The term “reflection” refers to the analysis and discussion of experiences, thoughts, events, and their impact on present and future goals. Reflection can improve an individual learning significantly (Dye, 2011)

1.2 John’s model of reflection

John’s model of reflection suggested that the techniques “Looking in” and “Looking out” are useful to judge experiences, feeling, and thoughts of both individual person and group of people. This model works in five phases: description, reflection; influencing factors; dealt with any better; and learning (John, 2000).

1.3 Kirkpatrick’s reflective model

Kirkpatrick’s reflective model includes four levels: reaction, knowledge, behavior, and result. The first step reacts to the feeling, environment, facilities, and content relevancy. The second step reflects on knowledge gained before and after the course. The third step reflects on the behavior changes due to the training/course provided and evaluates both positive and negative sides. The last step justifies the outcome of the course and looks for further improvement (Pandey, 2016).

2.0 Journals on nine topics/sessions

Topic/Session 1: “Introduction of the business creativity” was the first topic/session. Through this topic, I came to know about the definition, different theories and models that existed on business creativity. I also came to know about the process of the creative business, and the application of these techniques. This session provided knowledge on how human thinks, linear and lateral thinking, 6 thinking hats developed by De Bono (1995).  The entire topic was very interesting. However, I encountered some difficulties in understanding the topic. The reason is this topic was totally new to me. To overcome my difficulties in understanding I asked questions to my lecturers and classmates. They helped me a lot to develop my concept on the topic.

Topic/Session 2: “Developing creativity and business idea” was the second topic. Through this topic, I came to know how business creativity is related to business operation and success, and description of techniques for creative thinking, as well as creative thinking. The lecturer also helped me to know about the chances of creativity, identification of organizational competition in the market. In this session, I have developed my concept on the techniques to create creative ideas and concepts for the business. I enjoyed the session very much. The lecturer showed a real case scenario which made the session more enjoyable. This topic was easier to understand due to the lecturers’ teaching style.

Topic/Session 3: In this session, “Business Model Canvas Part 1” was included. This part of the session was very new to me. Through this session, I have learned about the definition of the concept of the business model canvas, the main elements of the business model canvas, analysis of this business model, and nine building blocks of this model. This topic has increased my knowledge of the first four building blocks (customer segmentation, value proposition, channels, and customer relationship) of the business model canvas. I felt very difficulties understanding this model as I had no previous knowledge. However, with the help of my lecturer, I obtained information on the segmentation of the consumers, distribution channels of the business, value proposition and relationship with the customers. This session taught me that the relationship between the marketers and the customers should be stronger to retain the customer for a long time.

Topic/Session 4: This session included (Business Model Canvas Part 2). Through this topic, the rest five building blocks (Revenue Streams, Cost Structure, Key Resources, Key Activities, and Key Partners) of the business model canvas came known to me. The lecture has developed my knowledge about the way these five building blocks are linked to the first four building blocks. However, I including the other students thought that the lecturer could not give us a clear idea about the link between these five blocks and the first four blocks. Consequently, we could not understand that particular area properly………………………..
