Task 1: Background of the chosen company
McDonald’s is the world’s biggest food chain company. It is leading the global market operating in more the 119 countries across the world. It serves about 70 million customers daily in its more than 36000 stores. McDonald’s first started its journey in 1940 with two guys Richard and Maurice Mc Donald. McDonald’s started a franchise business in 1955 selling the chain to third parties for growth in the global market. This means Mcdonald’s restaurant can be opened by an affiliate or franchisee, or the McDonald’s corporation itself. The revenue of McDonald’s comes from different sources including ret, royalties, sales in McDonald’s corporation, and fees paid by the affiliate and franchisees.
In 2015, McDonald’s revenues were about £30 billion dollars, where the profits were about $6 billion dollars. According to a report published by BBC in 2015, McDonald’s is the second biggest employer in the private sector in the world, where the first one is Wal-Mart employing about 1.9 million staff. The key products of McDonald’s’ are chicken, French fries, desserts, cheeseburgers, hamburgers milkshakes, soft drinks, and breakfast. It has also extended its menu including fish, wraps, smoothing, salads, fruit, and seasoned fries.
HR and its importance
What is HR?
An organization cannot build a good team of working professionals without good Human Resources. The key functions of the Human Resources Management (HRM) team include recruiting people, training them, performance appraisals, motivating employees as well as workplace communication, workplace safety, and much more (Mullins, 2014).
Why is HRM important in business?
First, Recruitment and Training is one of the major responsibilities of the human resource team. The HR managers come up with plans and strategies for hiring the right kind of people. Second, HRM encourages the people working in an organization, to work according to their potential and gives them suggestions that can help them to bring about improvement in it. Third, Maintaining a Work Atmosphere is a vital aspect of HRM because the performance of an individual in an organization is largely driven by the work atmosphere or work culture that prevails at the workplace (Mullins, 2014).

Task 2: A job vacancy in McDonald’s
For finding out a vacancy in McDonald’s, the search engine has been applied, where the McDonalds search engine is shown in the diagram below. Through this search engine, a job vacancy was found whose position is Customer Care Assistant.

In this position, the applicant needs to think of himself/herself as the face of his/her restaurant. The key focus should deal with customers and must ensure all the necessary things in the customer areas. The key activities of this position are a) handing out balloons to the children and making them feel welcome; b) looking after the consumer’s needs and expectations; c) keeping standards of cleaning of all of the areas including toilet, dining area. In a word, it needs to be created as a welcoming as well as a warm atmosphere. It is the responsibility of this position is to maintain positive communication with consumers at all times.
