This report is based on professional development planning for a strategic manager in an organization. The study first focuses on how to assess required personal and professional skills for individuals to gain strategic goals in workplaces. In the second, part the study emphasizes conducting individual skills audits to determine learning styles. In the third part, the study concentrates on how to implement a personal development plan.
This report is based on a particular UK-based organization, namely Tesco plc. The role of the planner is deputy manager in a Tesco Express.

Tesco is the biggest retailer in the UK. It is serving approximately 75 million customers every week with more than 500,000 staff across 13 countries. It’s clear vision guides it to be a successful organization. The vision of Tesco includes building both consumers and colleagues, different opportunities for growth, high-quality assets across the globe. Tesco has been a highly valued company with its customers, communities where it operates, committed, and loyal customers, shareholders, and other stakeholders. Tesco vision has the key five components which are to be wanted and needed around the world; a growing business with huge opportunities; modern, innovative, and creative ideas; winner locally applying skills globally; and inspiring and gaining trust and loyalty from consumers, staff, community, and other stakeholders.
The role of the development planner is the duty manager in a Tesco express. He has a number of responsibilities. Firstly, it has to deal with ordering and delivery, inventory and stoking, wastage, and variance controlling. Secondly, he has to manage and responsible for the store in the absence of the manager. Thirdly, he has to communicate with colleagues, line managers, suppliers, etc. Fourthly, he is responsible for dealing with cash, staff timesheets, and staff management. Finally, he has to take care of product availability, excellent customer services, quality assurances, etc.

So, the manager must able to well communicate with employees to deliver correct information (objectives, responsibilities, and decisions) at various levels. For example, a manager should capable to handle conflict gently and listen to their subordinates.
Stress Management Skills: In the organization, plenty of unseen issues are arises at various levels, which is stressful for employees and managers too. Tesco was faced a 0.4% sales decrease the cause of highly competitive market creates stress among the people within the organization. To handle this situation managers must have developed new marketing strategies to recover their position get back in the market will provide relief to employees and management from stress. Managers must able to make the right decision at the right time to handle stress among their staff and stakeholders.
Problems solving skills: The manager must have sufficient problems solving skills. It is the manager’s responsibility to find out the problems in business activities, and find out the exact solutions at the right time through effective ways.
Decision-making skills: The manager has to make decisions against any kind of challenge in business operations. These decisions must be accurate, timely, and quick and instant. If the manager cannot take the right decision on time, the company might fail to meet its objectives and goals.

He has to be motivated, a good leader, open and honest to everyone, a good listener and communicator, the power to influence others.
