Problems of Overpopulation of Urban Areas (GC01796)
Introduction
Nowadays, overpopulation is the greatest problem all around the world. But in urban areas, the population is usually denser than in rural areas. According to Will (2018), in an urban area, there are lots of facilities and the scope of leading a modern life, compared to the rural areas. People always run after the facilities and more updated lifestyles. Urban areas have more job sectors, living facilities, technology facilities, etc. People usually want to tap into these facilities. This is why people prefer urban areas over rural. As a result, urban areas become overpopulated. In article 1 and 2, various types of problems and impacts of overpopulation are described and ways to deal with overpopulation is identified.
Overpopulation of Urban Areas
Overpopulation defines when the population is increasing more than the ecological niche. In article 1, Madaan (2016) described 3 main viewpoints of overpopulation in urban areas. These 3 main points are given below:
- With the perpetually increasing population growth, our limited resources are going to continue short and will multiply day after day.
- For overpopulation, the environment is getting polluted more and harming the people.
- Overpopulation is the main reason for unemployment. People are increasing more than job sectors.
Firstly, there are numerous important living materials like transport, water, shelter, food, clothes, etc. If people keep increasing like this, the need for resources also increases. It means that people are facing a grave crisis in their life for earning living materials. So, I agree with this first key point. The second key point is that the deteriorating environment is harming people’s lives quite dangerously. Overpopulation is the reason behind it. People are destroying the environment by throwing waste, cutting down trees; ruining beautiful creatures of nature, and so on. (Katy, 2018). Thus, our environment gets affected and polluted. The second key point is also right, in my opinion. The third one is people are getting unemployed because of overpopulation. In job sectors, jobs are very limited. On the other hand, people are increasing very rapidly, the number of jobs cannot increase rapidly. The demand is way more than supply, causing people to be unemployed. This key point is also right.
In article 2, it is stated how to remove this overpopulation to get a healthy lifestyle. There are nine ways to stop this problem. These are: giving the right idea about birth-giving, giving scholarship in the study, especially for girls, removing the gender bias, providing the right idea about the contraceptive, teaching a complete lesson on good environment importance and population, having the maturity on population instead of boosting childbearing. The idea is to provide human rights and human development by stabilizing the growth. These are the key points of how overpopulation can be stopped. I agree with all these key points because I know that by abiding by these steps, overpopulation can be minimalized. According to Will (2016), overpopulation can be stopped by taking the right steps by the government and people.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are lots of viewpoints in articles 1 and 2 that I agree with. Overpopulation has to be stopped; otherwise, it can make people’s life miserable. People need to stay in their areas and not to come to urban areas. For this, rural areas have to develop their lifestyle and raise the quality of living materials (Kevin, 2018)
