This report is about the skill audit. Skill audit is very important in every sector of life. Both in business and personal life skill audit plays an important role to enhance and develop the performances (Griffith, 2019). In this report firstly several skills that are required for a student in his study life is discussed. In the next section, a brief discussion on Gibb’s reflective model is focused on. Besides a skill audit is conducted on my existing work and for my future career. I have discussed my skills and the improvement areas. This reflective model helps me to find out my lacking and improve my existing skills.
Research and explain the key HE skills
Skills can be defines as the capabilities to show the activities an achievement with resolute outcomes contained by provided time level, energy otherwise both (Creve, 2018). Lots of skills are required for a volunteer to do the research completely. Some of these areas below:
Time management and development of learning strategies
A student or volunteer has proper and adequate knowledge about the necessities and significance of time management and the development of learning strategies (Lane, 2019). It is usually noticed that many individuals are highly skilled to do their jobs without time limitations but within a certain time period, they are usually unable to accomplish their duties because they feel lots of pressure. So students/volunteers have sufficient knowledge and expertness about time management and advanced strategies (Creve, 2018).
Reading academic texts critically and effectively
Reading is considered an important habit or skill for the students but superficial reading is not effective because if students read their academic texts inattentively they cannot understand it clearly rather than faces lots of difficult understanding and confusion (Creve, 2018). Effectively reading academic texts can get them successful in academic life and also personal life.
Taking notes in lectures and from the hard or electronic copy
Attentively listening is the most required skill for the students and also students should note the important topic, subjects from the lectures, hard or soft electronic sources (Creve, 2018). This will be easy for them to further study and make out the imperative area for the examination (Lane, 2019).
Planning and writing essays and reports
Before writing an easy and reports students to have to precise plan to complete it. Students should have gathered applicable and satisfactory information to make a report (Power, 2017). Right, and precise plans can make their easy and reports more present full and enriched to get high scores.
Constructing and presenting bibliographies and references
The bibliography is deemed to be a section of academic education, the study of books like substantial, literary things (Lane, 2019). The passages, essays or reports must-have contains verified bibliographies and references. This ensures that the information is provided by students is authentic and believable.
Developing an academic writing style
Proper presentation and writing skills easily can hold the teachers’ or observers’ concentration. Sometimes students can recover their little insufficient information with the good presented and wonderful academic writing skills (Lane, 2019).
Improving spelling and grammar
A good writing skilled paper, easy or reports can lose its efficiency and turn into banal witting because of unconsciousness of word spelling, grammatical mistake those exited in the particular writings (Lane, 2019). Students have to learn about grammar, sentence-making structure and word spelling more attentively and more seriously to apply it in writing (Power, 2017). They can revise their writing to find out any mistakes and can correct them.
Preparing and delivering presentations
Students may have to present their writing by making presentation slides via Microsoft PowerPoint. So they can take suitable and accurate preparation and increasing their oral presentation skills (Power, 2017). A student has to have well-detailed and skillful both oral and written presentation expertness.
Reflection on my own skills in relation to the above skills
Gibb’s reflective model is used to identify one’s existing skills and how can these skills be developed. This model is the reflection of the structure of learning from experiences. This model consists of six steps. The first stage is the description of the incident. The nest stage is the feelings about the incident. Then the good and the bad about the experience are evaluated. In the analysis stage, one’s thoughts about the experiences are described. In the conclusion stage, what is the alternative to the previous work is discussed? And in the final stage is the action plan. If this situation is arisen again, what can be done differently is discussed. Gibb’s reflective model is beneficial for both organizational and personal purposes.
