Introduction

Skill is an ability to perform the work more effectively with an appropriate result. It takes less energy, time, but it gives people many positive sights (Joey, 2018). In this reflective essay, the description is about some skills and research about these skills. Then I have described reflection on my own skills in relation to the above skills.

Research and explain the key HE skills

Time management and development of learning strategies

Time management skill is very sufficient for every person. This is the method of organizing and managing the time in the right strategies. Well-organized time management encourages a person to do better work and less hard work. On the other hand, the development of learning strategies means improving a particular way of learning skills and techniques for accomplishing the goals and aims in life (John 2018).

Reading academic texts critically and effectively and developing an academic writing style

Reading academic texts critically and effectively means a person or student reads his academic study divided each of the text into some sections and reads it very clearly and carefully. This benefits a student a lot. According to Tylor (2018), this can help a student to become a more brilliant reader and can understand every section of academic text. Besides, a student can remember easily the study of the text because he will be more involved in the academic study. On the other hand, developing an academic writing style is also essential for students. Students must have good academic writing styles because it enables to increase the students’ ability to become better students and teachers or instructors become very happy with this skill.

Taking notes in lectures and from the hard or electronic copy

Hard copies mean printed documents and electronic copies mean paper which is scanned from a computer file, Microsoft Word, PDF, etc. Taking notes in a lecture from hard copies and electronic copies are both important for every student because sometimes, it becomes complicated to study from the hard copy pr electronic copy. If a student takes a note from this in lectures, he can easily understand the lecture and remember the study (Jack, 2017).

Planning and writing essays and reports

Planning the essays and reports means the process of work out the logical structure and shape and think some right expressions and words for the essays and reports and writing these mean what a student have a plan for the essays and report, he will write the same in paper. Planning and writing essays and reports helps a student to figure out the solution to issues that arose in the course. It also increases the thinking ability (Kriss, 2018).

Constructing and presenting bibliographies and references

Bibliographies mean to take all the sources that a student needs to prepare his paper whether it is cited o not. On the other hand, referencing means the cited sources that a student put in his paper. Constructing and presenting bibliographies and references is very essential for every student’s paper. According to Goerge (2018), it helps to find out the proper sources and resources of paper which a student writes.

Improving spelling and grammar

Spelling and grammar are a very big part of every good student’s qualities. Improving them is much needed for every student. If a student goes wrong with spelling and grammar he will never be a good student in his life (Ross, 2018). In an academic study or every stage of life, proper spelling and grammar are a must. So improvise these are very necessary.

Preparing and delivering presentations

Presentation is a very big part of every academic study. Every student should know how to give a presentation in class. So he needs to know first how he should prepare the presentation (Jill, 2019). After proper preparation of the presentation, he should know how to deliver this in the class. This makes a better student.

Reflection on my own skills in relation to the above skills

In my whole life, I gained lots of skills. I have followed Gibbs’s reflective cycle. This cycle is basically about learning from experiences (David, 2018).

In the above, there are described some skills. Firstly, Time management and the development of learning strategies skills. I organize my time in a very appropriate way but I repeatedly forgetting my work to do on time. So my strong side in this skill is I’m a very organized time manager but my weak point is I need to do more work on time. On the other side, I have to develop my learning strategies skills because I am very bad at strategies and techniques. The second skill is reading academic texts critically and effectively and developing an academic writing style. I usually do not read my textbook very deeply and carefully. For this, I suffer a lot. That is why I have to read my academic text very critically and effectively to understand and remember my study more. Besides, my handwriting is quite good but I need to develop more my academic writing style because it is very important for every student.

The next one is taking notes in lectures and from the hard or electronic copy. I have suffered lots of problems because in class I do not take notes of lectures. For this, I cannot remember my study in class. So I need to take notes from hard and electronic copies for remembering my study properly. The next skill is planning and writing essays and reports. Essays and reports are two things that every student needs to learn. I can write easily essays and reports but I do not plan before I write them. For this, sometimes, I cannot find the correct word for my essays and reports. That is why I need to plan before I write them. The next skill is constructing and presenting bibliographies and references. I know how to reference in a text but I do not the how-to bibliographies in the text. Both are equally important for a report or paper. I need to learn more. The next skill is improving spelling and grammar. Sometimes, I have faced grammatical problems. So I need to improve my spelling and grammar more. The last skill is preparing and delivering presentations. I have to give many presentations in my course. I can present my presentation very well but I became nervous when I need to prepare it.

Conclusion

Lastly, in the essay, this is proved that skills are very important for every work and study. I have lots of weak points and strong points of learning skills. So, I have to give more time to improving my weak points and be careful in my strong points.
