ORGANISATION STRUCTURE
According to Huczynski and Buchanan (2001) organizational structure refers to the conventional system of tasks and in forming relationships that control, coordinates, and persuades employees so that they do the job together to attain organizational objectives. The function of organizational structure is to divide organizational tasks and allocate them to sub-units and equalize and control these activities to be able to carry out organizational goals. It is a style of interactions and coordination that links the technology, undertakings, and human components of the organization to assure that the organization achieves its purpose. From the words of Brooks (2003) organization structure is the approach an organization is configured into workgroups and the informing and authority relationships that associate individuals and groups together. The structure separates the identity for different workgroups and has a major impact on the effectiveness of the communication process between them. It organizes and distributes work among individuals in the organization so that their actions are best harnessed to meet the organization’s goals and objectives.

TYPES OF ORGANISATION STRUCTURE
-
Multifunctional Structure
Commonly involves centralized control and the presence of separate functional departments for example purchasing, production, and marketing. It separates and organizes in accordance with the various inputs to a company’s business operations. The multifunctional structure is applicable where products share common production approaches and technologies and it allows workers to be highly skilled in their jobs. (Brooks, 2003)
-
Multidivisional Structure
When functional structures became costly and slow-moving in facing the increased competition from new product markets and lower-cost producers, a more competent structure called multidivisional structure replaced the centralized form. In this type of structure, divisions were established to observe all aspects of the production of a particular good from purchasing materials through composition and delivery. It focuses on a company’s output rather than its input and allows quicker response to market changes because each division has direct access to and control over major supplies necessary.
