1.0 Introduction
Koontz (2016) stated that one of the important strategies of business performance measurement is the strategic format. This is a very important determinant to measure the performance level by applying various strategies and the business goals are accomplished. In the process of strategic performance management, the managers draw special strategies and guidelines for the subordinates and communicate with them on a regular basis to monitor their performance for ensuring the best outcomes for the business firm (Houston (2017). Strategic performance management concentrates on personal development as well as team development for the betterment of the organization (Kourdi, 2016).
In this report, the descriptive research strategy is used to analyze the performance of the firm named Apple Inc. Therefore; this report is considered a case study method. Firstly; it provides information about Apple with the performance of the management team. After that; the operational functions of Apple, as well as influential environmental factors, are mentioned. Thirdly; the necessity of performance management for taking accurate decisions for Apple is also analyzed here. At the last part; it consists of recommendation as well as an implementation plan for the development of the strategic management. Secondary research data has been used for this report.

2.1 Overview of Apple business
At the beginning of 1976, Apple was launched its mobile business and the founder was Steve Jobs. After some years; it had produced and offered several products in the market including smartphones (iPhone), PC, portable devices and others. Then, the products of Apple include hardware, software, networking materials and others. At present; Apple has become a world raking firm and speared in the global area (Arthur, 2016). The staffs of Apple are nearly 115000 who have great contribution to increase the number of customers of Apple. The financial ratios of Apple have presented that Apple has covered a large number of shares around the world. That’s why; Apple got 3rd position as the Smartphone producer in the world (Apple Annual Report, 2018). The main competitors of Apple are Dell and HP who got 1st and second position.
The performance of the business is affected by the nature of stakeholders. Apple has several stakeholders including customers, employees, employees’ families, government, investors, community, and partners. Every member of the stakeholders is important for Apple. That is why; Apple should make good communication with all stakeholders and create a strong bonding with the stakeholders (Burnette, 2019). Apple Annual Report (2018) disclosed that Apple offers quality products to customers and offers fair returns to investors as well as fair salaries of the employees. The community also gets benefits from the social activities of apple.
2.2 Strategic performance management in Apple
According to Henry (2011), the main motive of strategic performance management is to improve performance. The following cycle represents that the process of improving the performance of the individual and company (Herbold, 2014). In the case of Apple; this technique has been used to attain the objectives of performance management. The four phases include a) define strategy; b) measure performance; c) analyze performance and d) take better decisions.
In the case of Apple; Steve Jobs was monitoring activities of the operational functions of Apple. In the first action; he was setting a plan and strategy with adequate definition (Burnette, 2019). According to Greasily (2018), it is very important for the business firm to define the strategy very clearly by which the subordinates can easily understand the strategy easily. After that; the managers of Apple has directed the subordinates according to Steve Jobs’s recommended strategies (CBINSIGHTS, 2019). Here, the managers of Apple have monitored and measured the performance level of the employees. The measurement of the performance of the employees is also an important function of strategic management (Greasily, 2018). At the third stage; the managers of Apple have analyzed the performance of the subordinates on the basis of standard level. The managers manage the performance level on the basis of the result of performance analysis. Finally; they have taken the decision for improving the further process of individual and organizational performance. Apple has strictly followed the strategic performance management for overcoming the market challenges and improving the condition of the inside part of the business.

Fogg (2017) noted that Apple has set up a plan for measuring performance at which this firm can fit in the global field. Firstly; this firm has set up a mission to capture the product performance and the limitations of the product designs to the customers. After that; the product line improvement is set as the main point of the performance measurement. The cooperation system is also influenced the performance level of the employees. For this reason; Apple has built a team for developing the actual performance of the firm. Apple has also analyzed the demand of the customers and found the gap between demand and supply for delivering adequate products in the market. Apple has provided the importance on the customers’ preferences and mitigates the shortcoming of the products as well as employees’ performance on a daily basis (ETS, 2020).
In the case of Apple; the vision has also a great impact on the performance measurement that helps to fit in the national and international market.
