Introduction
Organizations in the current business world have realized that employees are the most valuable assets. Thus, effective management of this source plays a significant role in organizations to gain organizational goals and objectives (Torrington, 2013).
This paper critically analyses and evaluates different issues of managing human resources in organizations in terms of Samsung’s business. First of all, the Guest model of HRM is described and applied in terms of Samsung. Then, the differences in Story’s definitions between Human Resource Management (HRM), Personnel Management (PM), and Industrial Relation (IR). Next, the implication of both line managers and employees on the HR strategy developed is described. In the second section, a model of flexibility, type of flexibility, use of the flexible working practice, and impact of changes in the labor market on flexible working practices are outlined. In the third section, a form of discrimination, implication equal opportunities, approaches of managing equality, and diversity are discussed. In the fourth section, performance methods, employee welfare, the implication of health and safety legislation, and one topical issue impact on HRM are discussed in terms of Samsung’s business.
