Computers in real-world are mainly classified are microcomputer, mini-computer, mainframe computer, and supercomputer:
Smartphone: The total number of Smartphone users worldwide increased from1.57 billion in 2014 to 2.1 billion in 2016. It is expected to increase this figure to 2.87 billion by 2020 (Statista, 2018). According to Johnson (2013), Smartphone is used in businesses for several purposes. This allows smooth communication even in report areas to both business and individual. This also has advance and powerful features including wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, and various apps that give extra facilities to the businesses. In addition, Smartphone supports storage of important files with a bigger memory capacity that helps business and individual to store important data. Using Smartphone an individual can do instant texting and messaging using apps like WhatsApp, IMO. It is also easily possible to access social media and mobile-friendly websites using smartphones (Azam, 2014).
Desktop, Laptop, Tablet/Netbook: This kind of computers are used in the real world for both internal and external communication including word processing, conferencing, and emailing and messenger system. Then, laptops and desktops are widely used in research and development; mainly businesses use these computers to understand industry trends, potential customers, trademarks, and competitors. These computers also widely used to produce different types of media such as audio productions, video, and graphics. These computers are also used for data tracking and storage using applications and software like Cloud. For product development, many companies are using these computers. Mini-computer, Mainframe and Supercomputer
A mainframe computer is used widely used in big organizations. It can process billion of instructions within seconds. Business can process huge data at once that in turn increase business performance and productivity. On the other hand, the supercomputer is also used by the large organization for processing and storing a large volume of data. The supercomputer is mainly used for space exploration, earthquake studies, weather forecasting, and nuclear weapons testing. However, supercomputer very expensive and needs lots of knowledge and experiences. Mini-computer is designed for an individual department for a business. For example, this computer can be used by a production department of a business to monitor certain production processes (Khan, 2017).
