Gender stereotyping is a negative issue especially for women because of the ingrained attitudes and partialities to them. This assignment’s key topic is gender stereotyping and medicalizations have historically had a negative impact on women’s health. This assignment firstly describes different key terms related to the topic. Secondly, this assignment critically analyzes gender stereotyping and medicalization which have a negative impact on the health of women.

Cook (2015) said that gender stereotyping is the concept of different roles or characteristics that are mainly possessed by both men and women. In addition, gender stereotyping has a negative impact while it is limiting the capability of a man or woman to develop different personal capabilities in their lives. The gender stereotyping can be negative (such as woman is illogical) or positive (such as women is cherishing). For example, the positive side of gender stereotyping is the responsibilities of child care usually fall on the women. On the other hand, the negative example of gender stereotyping is the failure to interdict conjugal rape by relying on women’s societal perception (Connell and Zampas, 2018).

Women have to protect them from sexual violence to dress properly and act modestly is the other example of harmful gender stereotyping. Because of the gender stereotyping women do not get the proper medicalization also has a negative impact on their health. In this case, most of the feminists argue that gender stereotyping and medicalization has always a negative impact on their health.
