Introduction

Different human resource functions, for example, payroll, discipline, and hiring are included in SHRM (Strategic Human Resource Management). It also includes operating with workers in a cooperative way to increase productivity, develop the skill, work quality as well as increase the shared profit for the company and worker. This assignment has concentrated on different factors of strategic human resource management. A specific well-known organization named Greggs plc has been chosen as a case study in this assignment. Firstly, this assignment provides an outline of Greggs plc. After that, this assignment does a situational analysis on Greggs plc applying several theories as well as models. Then, this assignment describes different rules or strategies of HRM for Greggs plc applying different theories or models. Last, of all, the assignment provides commendations for Greggs plc on how it can meet and overcome the challenges and obstacles.

Company overview

Greggs is one of the largest and well-known food companies in the UK. It is special in fresh and flavorful products, for example, desert items, sandwiches, soups, baked items as well as rolls of sausages. In Newcastle upon Tyne, the headquarter of Greggs is situated. In 1951, for the first time, Greggs plc was established. In 1970, Greggs tried to gain other local bakery chains over the country. It has become the famous food chain shop in the country. Greggs had 143 licensed outlets. It also had 1,764 usual outlets. In 2016, Greggs plc established 145 new outlets. It will give an opportunity to local people with 800 new jobs. It also gives its staff like its personal affiliates as well as gives good wages, rewards, or incentives to maintain or encourage them (Greggs Annual Report, 2016).

Finding of SWOT analysis

The finding of SWOT analysis shows that Greggs has strengths including strong brand image, operational and financial performance, competitive advantages, and availability in markets. Then, Greggs has huge opportunities in the market, mainly to extend operations in both the local and global markets. However, Greggs has limitations that mainly lack the online selling platform, high staff turnover, poor product ranges. Greggs can turn these weaknesses into strengths. On the other hand, it is facing challenges from competitors, new technologies, and economic, social, and demographic factors. Therefore, Greggs can be more strategic to overcome these challenges and gain competitive advantages………………..
