A business is an organization where services and products are exchanged for money to the customers (Investopedia, 2017). This assignment analyses the business environment of Harvey Nichols. Moreover, it evaluates several business organizations which are established in the market, and their balance or ownership structure. Harvey Nichols is a well-known retailer in the UK that offers exclusive clothes for men and women, beauty products, accessories for men and women, gift items, shoes, food, and wine. Harvey Nichols retails its products in the UK market and creates educational platforms to improve its business awareness between teenagers.
TASK 1: The business environment
1.1 Types of organizations found in public and private sector
Different types of organizations make the marketplace of business in both the public and private sectors in the present day. There are several kinds of organizations in the UK. Several sectors of business organizations are described as below:
Public sector
Public sector organizations are those types of organizations that are mainly operated as well as owned by the government. These types of organizations give different services for the citizens. For example, NHS is a well-known public sector organization which makes the business in the UK market. NHS provides healthcare services to the people.
Our Recommended Resources:
Private sector
The private sector organizations are the types of organizations that are part of the economic system of a country and operated by other companies and individuals or sometimes by the government. The private sectors are operated mainly with the intention of profit-making. For example, Harvey Nichols of the UK is the private sector organization that provides several arts and fashion products to its customers.
Sole trader
A sole trader organization is a simple structure of the business as well as inexpensive or easy to set this business. For example, Kurt Geiger is a renowned footwear organization of the UK that manufactures or supplies soles for the shoe. It makes trendy and fashionable footwear for both men and women by providing quality.
Partnership sector
Partnership business sectors are the organizations that operated by different partners of an organization that invested in the business. 1.2 Different structures within the business
There are different structures within an organization that deals with the several factors of the organization. As Ozguner and Ozguner (2014) note, organizational structures of the public sector organizations are different from private sector organizations. This is because public sector organizations are operated by the government. In addition, private sector organizations moderate the customers who are privately owned as each of their preferences or choices. Several public and private sectors include different structures (including hierarchical structure, matrix structure, flat structure, etc.) which are described as below:
Hierarchical structure
The hierarchical structure of an organization means when it organizes by a single and is organized by the other subordinates. The private sector organizations are mainly followed the hierarchical structure to operate the business activities.
Flat structure
Flat structure means when a business organization is developed with no middle persons. The partnership business sectors enter the flat organizational structure in that the business owners are both the body of business structures and business-makers………….
