1.0 Introduction
In the case of universities, there are lots of students and staff and their health and safety issue is an important issue (Manzoor, 2016). Especially the first aids are required in the universities to provide treatment for small accidents like slips or trips. But the large accidents may occur in the universities. Harford (2015) stated that Health and safety planning is needed to provide treatment for the accidents and try to eliminate the accidents. In this report, the possible solutions are identified for the given case scenario based on the university first aids. Then, this paper examines the reason for not recommending at least one of the possible solutions for this case scenario. Then, the paper recommends the solution processes and justifies the solution processes for the case scenario.
2.0 Outline briefly the possible solutions that could be adopted
At present, it is alarming that the rate of accidents is increasing day by day including universities accidents. For this reason, health and safety planning is important for universities. According to Health and Safety Laboratory report, 97% of respondents said that students have health and safety risks and it should be considered as an important issue. Another survey represented that 73% of students want first aids for accident treatments. In addition, St John Ambulance mentioned that 94% of teachers said that first aid lessons in university would help teach young people to be more responsible. But 30.2% of teachers told that cost of first aid is the main barrier to launch first aids facilities in the universities (Harford, 2015).
But, there are some possible solutions that can be followed to remove barriers and launch first aids facilities in the universities. Firstly, the teachers have some available resources that help them to teach the students first aid at a low cost (Salancik, 2015). In this case, the teachers can be bought the packages of first aid equipment at a minimum cost. Harford (2015) stated that it is very useful for all stakeholders of universities including teachers, students and staff. These solutions increase the knowledge of first aids and save the health of the teachers, students and staff from simple accidents.
Another possible solution is that the teacher of universities can use the website for downloading teaching resources of first aids without any cost. According to Cameron (2014), online training should be interactive and consider all learning styles. The universities encourage the students for gaining first aid knowledge. In addition, the Universities can arrange for specialist trainers to train the students by offering several courses (Harford, 2015). A number of universities show a better commitment to the safety and health of students. Manzoor (2016) stated that universities have provided training to all students to gain first aid skills; to ensure a safe place and to increase the student’s capability to help others at the time of treatment of accidents.
3.0 Examine-in detail why not recommend at least one of the possible solutions
According to Khan (2014), First aid helps to reduce fatalities and enable the faster treatment of injuries. Cameron, J. (2014) stated that the first aid facility plays an important role to increase the knowledge the skills of staff and students that help to save lives. But, only one possible solution is not enough to solve the first aid problems. The nature of accidents and injuries is not similar for all accidents (Harford, 2015). Therefore, several solutions are recommended to increase the knowledge the skills of staff and students to save the life from accidents and hazards (Salancik, 2015). The one possible solution is only capable to solve one kind of accident problem. But the staff and students of universities have experienced both simple and large accidents. Therefore, the universities should apply several techniques and solutions to solve the problems related to the faster treatment of injuries.
4.0 Solution that I am recommending and justifications
According to Salancik (2015), the present situation is alarming because the rate of accidents is increasing day by day including universities accidents. For this reason, health and safety planning is important for universities. Most of the researchers think that the universities should use first aids to increase the knowledge of students and provide faster treatment of injuries. Firstly, the teachers should gain adequate knowledge about the available resources to teach the students the first-aid system. Harford (2015) recommended that the universities’ teachers should collect low-cost first aid tools for providing treatment to the injuries. Secondly, the government should create a budget for the universities to increase the tools of first aids for the students.
Thirdly, the universities should use the website for downloading teaching resources of first aids without any cost. Fourthly, the teachers of universities should arrange training facilities for the students to increase their skills and knowledge of the students. In addition, the teachers of universities should encourage the students for gaining first aid knowledge to provide treatment to the injuries. Fifthly, the universities should arrange special programs related to the first aids for the students. Manzoor (2016) recommended that universities should create a fund for purchasing adequate tools and equipment of first aids facilities for the students and staff of the universities. Finally, if the universities can develop proper planning of health & safety and implement the planning into practical fields, it has justified that the health and safety of the universities students and staff may save from simple accidents and injuries.
5.0 Conclusion
In conclusion, the universities’ students, teachers and staff have faced several types of accidents in the premises of universities. Therefore, the health and safety issue is an important factor and first aid knowledge is important for the students to provide treatment for small accidents like slips or trips. In addition, health & safety planning is needed to provide treatment for the accidents and try to eliminate the accidents. There are several ways of solving the first aid problems for the universities. The universities should use low-cost first aids packages and website facilities to train the students. This paper revealed that the first aid facility has played an important role to increase the knowledge the skills of staff and students that help to save lives.
