Introduction

I have finished my HE Skills certificate for a better working place and now I am seeking a job in McDonald’s workplace. In this assignment, I search for major skills required for the planned working place and the skills lists required to observe the organizational objectives and goals of McDonald’s.

Part 01- Skills for tackling the problems

1.1  Describe the stages of understanding the problems

To reform McDonald problems, I must follow different levels those are described as follows:

Stages 1: Identify the problem

Defining the problem is the first stage of understanding the problem. To define a problem, in McDonald’s workplace, I will describe evaluate the circumstances, goals and recognize the difficulties.

Stages 2: Analyze the problem

In the 2nd level, I will evaluate difficulty in McDonald’s by “5 whys” questions answers. The “5 whys” are who containing problem when does difficulty occur, the effect of the problem, where does the problem happen, and why does the problem occur?

Stage 3: Generating possible solution

In the third stage, I should create different ideas to make the problem solved and would take the necessary steps.

Stage 4: Assess possible solution

In the fourth stage, I will find out several solutions for the identified problems.

Stage 5: Choose the best solution

From all of the solutions, I will choose the best solution to recover the problem.

Stage 6:  Monitor and review the solution

In the last stage, I will review and monitor the solution again and again and take the necessary steps for it

1.2  Analyze the key steps of critical thinking and innovation

Barry and Beyer (1995) noted that difficult thinking explains the logical decision and creating clear matter. The major stages of difficult innovation and thinking are analyzed and described below:

Step 1: I will make several probable thoughts and enlist them in the first stage. Next, I will recognize the connections among several thoughts to undertake the specific difficulty in McDonald

Step 2: In the 2nd stage, I will explain significant innovation and new ideas, and define the significance of arguments and ideas.

Step 3: In 3rd stage, I will recognize, make and appraise the new innovation and new ideas

Step 4: in this 4th stage, I will explain all probable discrepancies of analysis and ideas.

Step 5: In the last stage, I will advance the innovation and new ideas to the identified problems inconsistent and systemic method.

Part 02- Effective Use of Communication Skills

2.1 What are the key components of PEST analysis

PEST refers to Political, Economic, Social, and Technological. These are the external factors that influence the business performance and activities (Kotler et al., 2014).

Political

McDonald’s faces different government regulations and rules. Political issues impact McDonald’s business. This government rules trade regulation, tax issues, environmental policies and employment regulations.

Economic: economic factors, for example, economic stability and development, recent fluctuation, interest and inflation rate, unemployment policies, credit accessibility, etc importantly impact McDonald’s performance. Therefore, it must regard these economic factors before the decision-making of the business.

Social: several demographic and social aspects impact McDonald’s performance importantly. It is as the population growth rate, population density; education level changes, local people expenditure and income are impacting and fluctuating McDonald business performance

Technological: the advancement and innovation in improvement of technology impact the McDonalds business performance. McDonald’s wants to invent different innovative technologies, want to invest more money in new technology for the business.

2.2 Analyze the effective communication principles of managing the barriers to communication at the workplace

Communication and its goals

Communication is doing presentations, sharing opinions, attending lectures, exchanging ideas and gathering information. A communication goal is the preferred result of strategies of communication commends to gain.

Methods of communication

There are different kinds of methods of communication. These are body language, writing, visual image and speaking. Communication can be also categorized as written communication, non-verbal and verbal communication. Communication can be grouped as gesture, written and oral on the basis of expression. Communication can also be grouped as diagonal, vertical and horizontal on the basis of flow. Communication also categorized as informal and formal.

Message transformation process

Communication involves three components

  • Verbal Messages – Effectual verbal messages do not make confrontation in the listener organized, brief and succinct, free of jargon,
  • Paraverbal Messages – these texts are those which are transferred through tone, pitch and pacing voice.

What’s make a good communicator?

Timing, Integrity, Clarity and Adequacy are the major factors to be a good communicator. This diagram is shown is below:

How communication skills are developed

Effectual communication skills are essential to achievement in features of life. Many jobs need well skills of communication and good communication skills people habitually like better family and friends’ interpersonal relationships.

Part 03: Numerical Knowledge & Skills for creating effectiveness at the workplace

3.1 Differences between quantitative and qualitative data

Quantitative data: Quantitative data is considerable information that is expressed and counted by numbers. Quantitative data are measured by numbers.

Qualitative data: Qualitative data is offered by number name, code or symbol. These data are about definite variables.

Examples are provided as follows:

3.2 Explain mean, median and mode

Mode: the highest value of the numbers is known as the Mode. For example, in the following number:

13, 18, 13,14,13,16,14,21,13

13 disclose 4 times which more than the other number is. Therefore, 13 is the mode value.  

Median: In the sequence of numbers middle value is the Median. For example, in the following number:

13, 13, 13,13,14,14,16,18,21

14 disclosed in the middle. Therefore, 14 is the median value.

Means: Means is the average total number. For example, in the following numbers:

13,14,15,2,3,13,8

The average value of total number are = (13+14+15+2+3+13+8)/7= 68/7= 9.71

Thus, 9.71 is the mean value

In McDonald’s workplace, I have observed different issues and events. These problems are pointed out below:

  • Managers and employees of Mcdonald’s have no good communication in the workplace.
  • Customers are de-motivated because working service is very poor in the workplace.
  • Foods are not well served.
  • They don’t make the shop clean properly
  • McDonald’s use bad food ingredients in their foods.
  • They have a lack of working flexibility
  • Their service is also inaccurate

In this situation, I believe that authority will take important steps in order to develop McDonald’s working performance.

Part 05-Working with others (Building Relationships at the workplace)

5.1 What are the key behaviors of the employees at work?

There are different types of behaviors of McDonald’s employees. Staffs that work best to be friendly or courteous to their customers, coworkers and managers create professional life more satisfying than employees who look to cause drama or disturbances. Staffs who meet the deadlines are liable to be responsible and well organized. Employees should be punctual in their workplace. Employees should take organizational responsibility. There should be a good relationship between employees.

5.2 How healthy work environment does impact the performance of employees

An organization’s working environment impacts employees’ performances. First of all, staff can show their feeling and working freedom when they work in a good working environment. Then, they can learn many things when working in a healthy work environment. A healthy working environment can motivate employees to work doggedly in the organization. A healthy work environment of an organization can provide different types of work facilities. Motivated staffs are very significant for company survivals as well as they are essential to cope up with changes in the workplace environment. Managers frequently affirm good working conditions, security and wages to inspire staff. A healthy work environment can develop employee performance and productivity.

Conclusion

The problem is different from the norm, standards and status quo. A problem may be explained as the supposed gap between the desired position and the current position.
