Formal team
Formal teams are the main team of an organization that plays an important role to gain the objectives and goals of the firm. Most of the firms are concerned with the development of formal teams of the firm to ensure their prosperity of (Anderson and West, 2012). In the case of River Island; a formal team, the marketing team, plays a vital role to distribute the products and services to the customers.
Informal team
The formal team members create an informal team for performing informal activities. This team is effective to punish the employees who violate the group’s standard (Anderson and West, 2012). In the case of River Island, a trade union of employees is considered an informal team.
Permanent team
The permanent team is also considered a formal team because the team members are connected with the company until the retirement performed several functions for achieving the targeted goals (Anderson and West, 2012). In the case of the temporary team; the team members are working together for a shorter duration. In the case of River Island, the production manager hires a temporary team for finishing the excess functions of the firm.
Virtual team
Virtual team members are performing their tasks by using online media for achieving shared goals and objectives. The team members are well experienced in IT and software technologies (Anderson and West, 2012). P2 Explain how to build cohesive teams that perform well
Introduction
Team cohesion is achieved when a team is working to achieve the ultimate goals of an organization (Bacon and Blyton, 2016). Team cohesion is one of the greatest methods to increase understanding, communication and relationship among the employees. Team cohesion is creating the channel of sharing the interpersonal skills of the team members (Bacon and Blyton, 2016). Here; I am going to mention the process of making a cohesive team for the well-being of the firm including River Island.
Team goals
The first step of creating team cohesion is to set team goals and define the team goals clearly to the team members. Before setting team goals; several internal and external factors must be considered by the team leaders. The team leaders should consider the suggestions and skills of the team members to set SMART goals (Bacon and Blyton, 2016). After that, the team leader is distrusting the goals and guidelines to the team members to create a cohesive team and increase motivation, task engagement and productivity among team members.
Dealing with group conflict
In a group; conflicts can be considered as a normal factor because there are various types of combinations of people. A team leader is said to be effective when he is able to handle the group conflict inefficient way (Bacon and Blyton, 2016). A team leader can mitigate the conflicts by talking with the party of the conflict, focusing on events of the conflicts, listening carefully about the reason of conflicts, identifying key reasons of agreement and disagreement, prioritizing the areas of conflict, developing a plan for solving conflicts, following the plan and implementing the plan in the right way to solve the conflicts among the group’s members (Lusch and Mejza, 2015)……………….
