Introduction

Creativity innovations have been changing the world in every field for ages.  These lead to an organization to continue its growth by achieving a new evaluation of success. Employees of an organization are permitted to implement their thoughts and new ideas freely into business activities that gain company success. In addition, new ideas and concepts through creative and innovative thinking may lead to an organization’s competitive advantages (John, 2009).

This report focuses on the management consultant’s plan for improving creative as well as innovative capacity in a selected organization namely Greggs Plc, UK. In the first section, the report discusses the importance of innovation and creativity management in Greggs Plc. In the second part, the report emphasizes how an innovative and creative management process can support Greggs Plc. In the third section, the report explains how creativity and innovation are able to influence others to impact Greggs Plc. In the last section, the report shows the plans to overcome the challenges for implementing creativity and innovation ideas in Greggs plc.

Overview of Greggs Plc (the selected organization)

Greggs plc is the biggest bakery chain shop in the UK. It has nearly 2500 shops and more than 22,000 staff who are serving millions of customers every week. Greggs specializes in sandwiches, savory products, and sweets. Greggs is a very innovative and creative organization. It has a department called research and development (R&D), which is doing non-stop research to introduce innovative and creative ideas and concepts into the business. As a result, Greggs has been able to understand the needs and expectations of its customers and has brought many creative and innovative changes to its business activities. Greggs frequently changes its strategies in products, promotions, prices, locations, etc through innovative and creative thinking and research outcomes (Greggs Annual Report, 2013).

Task 1: Understanding the importance of creativity and innovation management in Greggs plc

1.1 Evaluate current and innovative management processes in an organization.

According to Bateson (2010), creativity is the philosophical and scientific thinking to find out new concepts to gain business goals and objectives. Dawson (2013)notes, creativity is the process of thinking, where innovations are the actions of performing new concepts and ideas. Creativity and innovations are crucial for organizations to survive in the competitive global marketplaces. In addition, they guide the organizations to take comprehensive measures with continuous and frequent changes that come from different environmental factors including internal and external.

Greggs Plc has been a very successful organization in the present food retails market in the UK through its creative and innovative ideas and thinking. Greggs’s key goals and objectives are to gain a high-profit margin through increased volumes of sales, to extend business attracting more customers and their segments, to gain improved market shares providing excellent customer services and quality of food at reasonable prices. The main focused areas are research and development (R&D), production of quality and fresh foods, effective supply chain management based market demand, quality assurances and providing excellent customer services, marketing, and market development, etc……………..

According to Mullin et al. (2009), leadership is the systematic process of influencing individuals and/or teams to gain organizational goals and objectives.  In general, the manager of an organization has knowledge and understanding regarding change management, creativity, and innovations. People are influenced by others such as people, places, events, environments, etc. Consequently, the manager must have a talent of influencing others to gain support from others, to engage one in imaginations, to inspire others and to create relationship……….
