Contemporary Developments in Business and Management _Telefonica (GC708)
Executive Summary
The current report is divided into two parts, the first part is based on the primary external influences on business and the second part represents the concept of globalization and ‘guarded globalization’ aligned with the business operations. In the first part, a number of primary external factors have been analyzed, affecting the business of O2, such as wages, Brexit, R&D, technology, radiation, innovation, and Equality Act 2010. For example, the Equality Act of 2010 represents the fact that the company needs to strictly eliminate any practices relevant to gender discrimination. Besides this, the political, as well as economic factors, have direct impacts on the growth of O2 due to the reason of fluctuating economy, exchange rates, fluctuating GDP, high inflation, and Brexit. Apart from this, globalization can also influence the business process of O2, as it leads to increasing interconnectivity among the global economies. For ensuring the positive impacts of globalization, the policymakers focus on changing and making new rules relevant to international business standards, which can be termed as guarded globalization. However, in order to expand the area of business through following the ‘guarded globalization’, O2 needs to focus on the implementation of training programs and educational supports, for improving customer delivery services, in order to achieve the desired position in the UK telecommunication sector.
