Intrapersonal Communication
It is the communicating process that is used to communicate with the individual self. It can be conducted directly verbally or mentally. It is a private type of verbal communication (Marlin, 2017).
Interpersonal Communication
It is the communication process conducted between two individuals. It is the most common verbal communication process.
Small-Group Communication
This communication process requires more than two people. When a group is communicating with each other, this communication process occurs. Team meetings, office meetings and press meetings have used this type of communication.
Public Communication
In this communication process, there are mainly one speaker and several listeners. Public meetings, election campaigns are this type of communication.
Nonverbal communication
Nonverbal communication is the process of communication that uses eye contact, facial expressions as the tools of communication (Marlin, 2017). There are several types of nonverbal communication:
Eye Contact
Eye contact is the most common and effective nonverbal type of nonverbal communication. The eye look can reflect interest, affections, hate or any other expression and emotions.
Facial expressions
The facial expression of a person can say a lot without saying anything aloud. It is a universal type of communication.
Body movement
It is another common type of nonverbal communication. The body movement can express a lot of information to anyone (Marlin, 2017).
Key theories that define the communication process
Behavioral theory: This theory is founded and developed by Dr Jurgen Ruesch. Both Verbal and non-verbal communication is influenced by social circumstances. The behavior of a person is dependent on social standards. Social standards are affected by beliefs, gender and culture. These factors are varied from country to country. Different cultures are found in different regions. The behavior of persons varies for culture. Dress codes, attitudes, gestures are varied due to culture. Religions also affect behavior. These are the factors of the varying communication processes (Harris, 2019)………….
