Effective management of business resources is one of the key functions of any organization. According to Mullins (2014), business resources are mainly classified as human resources, physical resources, financial resources, and time and effort resources. This paper discusses and analyses the resources of a specific organization. The chosen organization here is McDonald’s. McDonald’s is the world’s leading global foodservice retailer with over 36,000 locations serving nearly 69 million customers in over 100 countries each day. More than 80% of McDonald’s restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent local businessmen and women. McDonald’s offers a uniform menu that includes fries, the Big Mac, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, hamburgers, the quarter pounder with cheese, salads, wraps, desserts, soft drinks, and other beverages. However, to ensure that it connects with the international markets, McDonald’s offers locally relevant food menus as well. For example, it serves gazpacho in Spain, the black and white burger in China, and the Veg Pizza McPuff in India. In the U.S., McDonald’s main competitors are Burger King (BKW) and Wendy’s (WEN). McDonald’s has the largest share in the fast-food restaurant industry of 17% in the U.S. (Jhaveri, 2014).
P1 Describe the recruitment documentation used in McDonald’s
The first requirement documentations used in McDonald’s are job advertisements. A job advertisement is a paid announcement in a newspaper or other medium about a job vacancy provided by McDonald’s. The advertisement is part of a wider recruitment process designed to attract suitably qualified candidates for a job. Job advertisements are created by human resource professionals or external recruitment agencies working with the managers of departments who need to recruit staff. The main purpose of a job advertisement is to attract suitable candidates for the position. An effective job advertisement reduces the time companies spend interviewing unsuitable candidates by providing a precise statement of job requirements. A job advertisement also plays a secondary role by helping to position McDonald’s as a growing organization staffed by quality people. This can help create awareness and interest from qualified people who might be attracted to McDonald’s for future vacancies.
