Introduction

Fombrun (1984) noted that Leadership can be basically explained as a composite method of chief persons to accomplishing various positive predefines objectives as well as goals. During the history of human individuals have constantly been an endeavor for a position of leadership. In the 20th century, persons became very concerned about the position of leadership. During the early beginning, theories of leadership were founded on virtues that discriminate leaders from supporters whereas the following theories were founded on variables that contain situational factors as well as skill levels. These theories are categorized into 8 several groups a number of that will be assessed.

1.1 An evaluation of leadership theories

The Great Man Theories

The idiom ‘Great Man’ is being applied throughout the period when leadership situations can simply be achieved by created particularly martial leaders. This theory assumes that leaders are instinctive with their inside needed important qualities not made, qualities contain intelligence, charisma, confidence, skills, etc. The theory as well believes that those virtues could succeed to that is why a person utilizes the general phrase “born to lead” representing that director are born not created. Theories of Great Man generally represent leaders as heroic and mythic. Though, the theory also assumes directors are intended to increase and declare the position of leadership when the time arrives.

The Trait Theories

The theories of the trait are alike to the theories of Great Man, the theory assumes that individuals come into various definite leadership skills however it is the traits that formed these inherited skills and created them into well appropriate leaders. This theory recognizes various ordinary leadership skills shared by numerous directors, qualities that contain extraversion and courage, self-confidence that can be correlated to various great leaders. Therefore, these skills stated above can potentially be established in persons as well as however they can be exposed not to be searching for some positions of leadership.

The Contingency Theories

Contingency theories placed more importance on various specific ecological variables which are believed to be a definite style of leadership suitable for the position. The theories recommend that there must be no common style of leadership suitable for all conditions except slightly the achievement of the style of leadership relies on the number of particular conditions is in a number of followers or environmental state.

The Situational Theories

Situational leadership theory recommended that directors create the greatest assessments based on variables of the situation. The theory recommended that applying numerous kinds of styles of leadership will be more suited to creating several decisions. Such as a state where the leaders become to be the most experienced as well as educated in making of decision committee, authoritarian style of leadership may be the finest exercise or in a condition where the board members are experienced and educated too as the director, democratic style of leadership may be the greatest exercise…………….
