2.0 An analysis of reflection on the one-to-one working skills required in the case study
One-to-one working skills play a significant role in the social workings. Smith (2013) said working skills refer to different competencies and attributes that support an individual to perform better in the workplace. Steeneken (2017) stated that the social worker needs to have several working skills including a higher level of experience, effective communication skills, problem-solving skills and quality services to the clients. From the case study, it has been noticed that Farzana is a 70-years female who suffered from depression as well as anxiety. Recently, the client had a stroke which has left her left side very weak with paralysis of the right-hand side of her body and is, therefore, unable to walk unaided and use her right arm. Additionally, the patient has also speech problems and memory loss leading to difficulty communicating. The patient has replied that she never married and had no children and is a Sikh. The biggest blow to her self-esteem is that she is now a patient who relies on others. She has been in hospital for immediate care. But, at present, the patient needs to discharge from the hospital. At present, Leone is the social worker who takes the responsibility of Tarzana to discharge from the hospital and take care of her in the house.
The case study revealed the conversation between the social workers, ward manager and client. The social worker has gained all skills to maintain the professional standards according to the Law of social work England. Secondly, the social worker has the skills of promoting the rights, strengths and wellbeing of the people, families and communities (Ackley, 2017). Thirdly, the social worker has also skills in maintaining the trust and confidence of the patients or clients. The social worker has required to arrange a professional development plan and act safely, respectfully and with integrity.
3.0 Information and analysis of the ethics and values come into the case study and differences between personal values and professional ethics with the case study
According to Walker (2017), Ethics represents the moral values that impact the human code of conduct. Personal values and professional ethics have some differences. Personal values indicate the factors that are very necessary for individual development. Personal values indicate achievement, adventure, courage, creativity, dependability, dependability loyalty and friendship (Walker, 2017). Personal values lead to a human being creating a happy and healthy life. On the contrary, professional ethics enforce a person that impacts on the behavior in a working environment. It mentions the way of performing roles and responsibilities towards other people. It includes the statement, code, issues and responsibilities.
From the case scenario, Farzana is a client who has 70-years old and suffered from depression as well as anxiety. Recently, the client had a stroke which has left her left side very weak with paralysis of the right-hand side of her body and is, therefore, unable to walk unaided and use her right arm. Additionally, the patient has also speech problems and memory loss leading to difficulty communicating. At present, the social worker has performed the personal values and professional ethics effectively to provide services to the client. The social worker has applied the achievement, courage, creativity, dependability, dependability loyalty and friendship towards the client.
4.0 Strengths and weaknesses of the meeting and ways of what did not go well and what could be done differently to improve the interaction
The social worker in this case study has some strengths and weaknesses. After conversation and giving services to the clients, the social worker increases the strengths. Firstly, the social worker has enough knowledge about social working and the process of fulfilling the demand of the clients (Maddan, 2018). Additionally, the social worker has good educational knowledge in the field of social work. The social worker also has met the client before giving the services and understood the details about the client. This has a positive effect on the performance level of the social worker. On the other hand, the Social worker has faced some weaknesses due to his lacking of with the clients’ limitations (Maddan, 2018). The social worker is not so much experienced in this field. Additionally, the social worker did not understand the client effectively due to the memory loss and lack of speech of the client. After that, the social worker has faced problems when the patient has turned into a critical situation.
Therefore, the social worker needs to take action to remove the weaknesses and improve the personal quality to provide enough support and services to the client. Firstly, the social worker should communicate with the clients or the ward manager to understand the present situation of the client. Secondly, the social worker should collect necessary information about the Law of social work in England.
