2.0 Use a reflective cycle to critically reflect on my job search process
Gibb’s reflective cycle is a popular and effective method of reflection. This reflective model consists of 6 steps of developing the reflection of learning (Sedem, 2018). Firstly, this model includes the description that contains the main topic of learning. Secondly, this model includes the feelings that contain the thinking and feelings of learning. Thirdly, this model includes the evaluation that contains the good and bad experiences of learning. Fourthly, this model includes the analysis that contains the analysis of skills and experience. Fifthly, this model includes the analysis that contains the main summary of the learning. Finally, this model includes the action plan that contains the future actions to develop the learning outcomes (Sedem, 2018). In the case of my job search process, I have reflected on my learning on the basis of this model.
The description is the first element of Gibb’s reflective cycle (Sedem, 2018). I have searched several types of jobs to get a good job. From the job searching, I have learned the process of writing a CV and cover letter. I have also understood the importance of a good CV and cover letter to get a good job in a renowned place. I have attained the process of creating a network and searching the high potential jobs by which I can develop my future career. I have also searched the jobs which have challenges and long-term sustainability where I have showed my creative and innovative knowledge. I have finally got a job as a customer service and quality assurance supervisor at Mammaz Food Limited.
Feelings represent the second element of Gibb’s reflective cycle (Sedem, 2018). On the basis of this stage, I found that I have felt good as well as bad experiences at the time of job searching. I have experienced with good feelings when I have attained new experience from the new and new job search. I have also experienced bad due to lack of knowledge and ineligible for the job. However, I have used my experience, skills and other criteria to find a good job and I have felt that I have the capability to find a good job and improved my employability skills in several fields.
Evaluation is the third element of Gibb’s reflective cycle (Sedem, 2018). I have evaluated my job search process and found that I have firstly could not use the accurate format of searching job because I have some limitations of knowledge on job searching. By the passing of time, I have evaluated my lacking and identified the right and effective process of job searching.
The analysis is the fourth element of Gibb’s reflective cycle (Sedem, 2018). I have analyzed my job search process on the basis of my skills and theories. I have taken the rational decisions of searching and doing jobs on the basis of labor economics theory. I have also analyzed the cost of benefits of available job opportunities and taken the rational decision of searching the potential jobs.
In conclusion, I have found that my presentation and searching skills are improved. I have presented my academic and professional skills on the CV and other letters by which I have acquired the ultimate process of presenting myself to others. I have also gained the knowledge of main sources of jobs. I have also increased my knowledge of technological fields because I have searched the jobs from several online and offline sources. However, I have found some of my limitations at the time of job searching.
I have found some of my limitations at the time of job searching. For this reason, my action plan helps me to remove my limitation in future job searches. I have to study the job search theories to understand the process of searching for jobs and taking rational decisions. I have to know the process of better presentation method of myself towards others for searching and getting a good job. I have to do all the necessary things to make my academic and professional life successful…………………………..
